THE TUBES
TRENTON RIVERFEST
September 26, 1997
Yes, this board would be better if I told about the Tubes show in Trenton, N.J. last nite!
The band was wonderful!, Prairie played and they added another keyboard player! His last name is Medd and I think Fee said his first name was Dave? ...I don't know, I was just shocked that I was standing there asking him the name of the new Keyboard player!...LOL...I asked him was it spelled M-e-d-d and he said "yes", but then I forgot what he said his first name was! Rick Anderson was a few minutes late, and Fee made him pay for it by asking if anyone in the audience played Bass!....Rick did show, and Fee said "I smell fish!" and the band went right into "Sushi Girl"
The song list included old favorites "Slipped My Disco" and "What Do You Want From Life" along with a brilliant, heart felt performance of "How Can You Live With Yourself" and a surprise to me, "I Was A Punk Before You Were A Punk"....They ended with "White Punks On Dope", or so we thought....and then they came back out with "Mondo Bondage" to the delite of all of us die-hard-east-coast Tubes fans!
Gary was very cordial, and Fee stayed and signed many autographs afterwards, and I made sure to thank him for staying. Gary had said that they had just gotten off of the plane, and were flying right back, and were a litle bit lagged-out when they arrived. I also had a chance to meet an internet friend who overheard me telling Gary that my screename was "WhytePunk" and that hopefully some of these pics I was taking would end up on my homepage. "Joe", the internet guy said, "so you're Neil!"....and I thought that was real cool! All in all it was a very memorable show, maybe the most out of the Five Tubes shows I've seen! I only hope I get the chance to make it six!
