Description

This is a 5 tube bakelite radio made in the 1946-47 model year. It has external antenna and phono input jacks and a rotary turning dial. Somewhat unusual is the speaker, which faces out the back of the radio.

As received, it was electrically working. The previous owner had replaced some of the paper caps and the line cord. The speaker has also been replaced and a new wooden mounting bracket made. I don't know why, because I also received the original speaker and it appears to be fine. I was able to find a schematic in RCC.

Physically, this radio is in bad shape. The bakelite case is badly damaged with cracks and is missing a few pieces. Someone had attempted to "repair" it using a fiberglass repair kit. The dial glass has lost most of its paint, and had been reinstalled using white caulking.

Due to the severe damage to the case, I've written this off as a parts radio, or may put the chassis in another case. It is a shame, as the orginal case would have been quite attractive.
