I laugh at all of you mindless idiots who still think that graphics are what make a game good. There was one guy who I overhead say "side scrollers suck" to which I karate chopped his head through a wall Mortal Kombat style. The bottem line here is that the original Nintendo and Super Nintendo systems are the revolutionary in video gaming and I'm using this page to give homage to the systems that many have forgotten.
I've been playing nintendo since I was 2 years old and I still play all of the original classics such as Super Mario, Megaman, Ninja Turtles, Castlevania, Zelda, and Final Fantasy. These are by far the best classics ever created and spawned what would later be known as the greatest games of all time. So if these games are what started the future of gaming, why is it that people don't take the time to go back and play them to enjoy some wonderful nostalgia? The reason is simply because people have too used to the idea that graphics are what make a game great. They look back and, without even playing the game, take one look at the graphics and decide that the game isn't even worth their time.
I decided to list out all of my favorite classics from the original nintendo system and give my reasons why anyone with half a brain should go back and give them a chance.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES---I recently had the sudden urge to go back and replay this game and I was suddenly opened up to a world that I thought had long since been forgotten. This game may have only six worlds, five bosses to fight, no save feature, and a last boss who doesn't look overly impressive, but believe me when I say, this game won't disappoint any fan of games in this genre. With the ability to choose between all four of the turtles (instead of choosing one at the beginning and having to stick with that turtle through the duration of the game like it's arcade style sequels) you won't get bored going through each level with them. Each one has their own special characteristics about them that make gameplay so much more fun. On a different height of an enemy and you can't reach it with Raphael's weapon? no problem. Just press start, switch to Donatello, and you have a weapon with six times the attacking length on top of double the strength. Even though you feel you can't lose with using all four turtles at the same time, this game is still pretty challenging for even the most veteran of players. I fought the boss of the third level (I salute the man who thought a robot turtle would be a good idea for a boss) when I decided to start playing again and my jaw dropped when I found that even after 15 years it was still a real bitch to fight (that and I died while fighting him). Do yourself a favor and don't buy into the simplicity look of this game. It's one of the best.

SUPER MARIO BROS.---I really don't think I need to explain any further. Any gamer should know about this game, otherwise you're just fooling yourself into thinking that you actually are a gamer to begin with. This is the one that pretty much launched the success of Nintendo. And I have to say that this game is better than some of the new mario games that they have created in the last two years or so (seriously, Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion?) To hell with explanation. Play the damn game.

MEGAMAN---These originals are so much better than the new ones that they have come out with. I used to play Megaman 3 to the point where I could defeat every boss using my normal shot and no energy tanks (Piss on you people who play on emulators where you can save state so you can do the same). Yesterday I picked the habit up again and continued to play the game again, and I was surprised to find that regardless of the fact that the game is old, it still took me quit a hell of a long time to get to where I got, and I haven't even gotten close to the last level yet (considering I beat MegamanX5, MegamanX6 and Megaman8 in one day anyways). This is a game where the whole "graphics makes the game" theory is bullshit. Megaman Legends was a complete letdown. And I was really expecting a 3D Megaman game that followed the whole 8 boss format after playing Megaman legends. They finally came out with MegamanX7 for playstation 2. That was equally a let down. This also goes to show you, with better graphics, the story lines are probably going to suck. Seriously though, even though the covers of the games look stupid, don't pass this game up.

CASTLEVANIA---Ok, there's really only one castlevania game of all the originals that is any good. Castlevania 3. Even though Castlevania:Symphony of the night was really good, I still really liked the complexity of the third game, the great graphics, and the non repetetive manner of it. All in all, kicks ass.
ZELDA---The first zelda game was a total classic. I really don't feel like going into a lot of detail on this one except to say that Majora's Mask was a completely crappy concept. There were just so many things wrong with it that could've been changed. But I'm too lazy to list those off
FINAL FANTASY---Big deal if the graphics aren't as good as games nowadays, or the storyline or battle system. This is still a damn good game. The game that launched one of the biggest video game companies, at a time where their last ditch effort to make sure they didn't go bankrupt was in a game that stole it's format from Dragon warrior's (the first actual RPG). The point here is that I still think of this game as one of my favorites, and it's odd that even the newly made version of this game for playstation still wasn't as good as the original (Fighter looks pretty kickass with red hair as opposed to brown). There's still nothing in the universe that can even touch this one.
Ok, I think I've finished for the time being. Still don't agree with me? Eat me. I'm out. (Notice that I did not say fuck at all during this entire article, aside from this end message)
