So, Metallica sues Napster allowing people to download their music, Napster gets shut down, everyone starts bitching at Metallica. Shut the fuck up! Who the fuck cares?! Metallica only did what any human being would have done if they were losing money. You fucking whinny hypocrits would've done the same thing.
At the moment it doesn't seem like they should complain, they've made millions off their albums with royaltys. But think of it htis way. Metallica and many other bands just like them have to spend thousans of dollars of their own money for each recording session of a new album for the course of a year, or however long it takes. When each CD is sold, a portion ot their profits go to the record company they're signed to, a portion goes to the manager, the rest is split up among the members of the band. So this means they'd need the consumers to buy their CD's just to make up for the amount spent during the duration of recording. Now, let's say that everyone starts downloading and burning CDs. I mean EVERYONE. This means no CDs will be bought, no royaltys sent to the band, and pretty soon (in a while) the bands won't have enoughmoney to record an album. End of that. Everyone will start bitching about their favorite artists quitting, or taking too long to make a new album...do you get it? There. So shut the hell up.
On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with downloading songs, as long as you are also going to buy the album ventually. or If you're burning a compilation/mixed CD. There are tons of CDs out there that are real bitches to find, so if you want to make a burnt CD of it until you find a copy for yourself then that's ok.
The arguement above also applies to complaints of the cost of the actual CD itself. I've heard people say "why should I pay $20 for a piece of plastic that only costs 5 cents?" Hey, dickhead, you're not paying for a peice of plastic. You're paying for a piece of plastic containing 11-14 songs compiled together through labour and machinary. You're paying for the songs on the CD, not just the stupid CD itself. Your argument is the equvilent of saying "why should I pay $300 a week for a maid when there is no cost for human life to begin with?" Are you getting what I'm saying? Good, let's move on.
Finally, Metallica sued a perfume company for naming a new product of theirs "Metallica", and yet again people started getting mad at them for being petty and only wanting more money. Fuck off. You would've done the same if you were in their shoes. It's more of a matter of personal pride. Metallica copyrighted their name and someone else took it to sell a female product for christ's sake. That's on the grounds for an ass kicking. I know what I'll do about this. I'll create some women's lingerie called "Queen" or some tampons called "Black Sabbath" or a new type of dildo called Led Zepplin. I can't wait to hear you all contradicting yourselves by getting mad at me for this. I win.
In conclusion, I would like to say if I offended anyone, please send me a letter stating so. I will send you a written apology including a complimentary magnet that you can stick to your harddrive tower. Now you can be the stupidest person on your block. Dipshits
