Barry "Matt Camden" Watson

Barry Watson - Born Michael Barret Watson, Barry was born on April 23, 1974 in Traverse City, Michigan, the third of four children. He has two older siblings, Scott and Christie, and a younger brother, Kip. His dad was an attorney and his mother was a paralegal. At age 8, Barry moved to Dallas where he started modeling. At age 14, his parents divorced. At 15, he took off for Burbank, California and almost immediately got a job on the NBC soap "Days Of Our Lives". The job only lasted for six months, so he returned to Dallas and graduated from Richardson High School in 1992. At age 19, a determined Barry returned to Los Angeles again. Although he started off by parking cars at the House of Blues, six months later he earned on a role on the short-lived "Malibu Shores," also produced by Aaron Spelling, whose daughter, Tori, introduced him to his future wife, Laura, whom he married on December 21, 1997. Barry then earned the role of Matt Camden on "7th Heaven." In 1999, he was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series - Young Ensemble. He went on to star in movies such as "Teaching Mrs. Tingle," -- for which he earned a nomination at the MTV Movie Awards for Best Kiss, with Katie Holmes -- "Sorority Boys," and "When Strangers Appear." He also had a cameo role in the "Oceans 11" remake, and starred in the music video "Tongue Tied," by Eve 6. Barry was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease in May 2002, when he left "7th Heaven" after the shows six season, which ended with his wedding to a Jewish girl. However, Barry never left the show, and while in remission, worked as a script supervisor during the seventh season. During chemotherapy, Barry went on air at the 2002 Teens Choice Awards to accept his award for Best Actor for "7th Heaven." Barry later penned his very first episode, "Peer Pressure," which aired November 11, 2002. He is now cancer-free and determined to stay that way. Matt Camden returned to "7th Heaven" for his sister Lucys wedding in "We Do," the 150th episode, as well as the two-part season 7 finale.
