Holmesdines
The game is afoot once again. ...
A Canonical repast awaits you at the 2008 Watson's Tin Box Formal Dinner at Café de Paris in Columbia, where we will discuss topics both Canonical and Conanical.

As always, the dinner will consist of canonically related gastronomic delights. This year's menu includes:

Welsh Rarebit
Potato, Leek and Ham Hock Soup
Wild Goose and Mushroom Supreme Bouchee with Asparagus Risotto
Chestnut Cream and Wild Berry Cobbler
(See full menu below.)

Coffee, tea and soft drinks are included; you may order from the cash bar if desired. The cost is $47.00 per person, which includes tax and gratuity.

Donna Andrews
This special event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, especially to our fellow Sherlockians in the region!

The Café de Paris is making its entire facility available to Watson's Tin Box exclusively for this occasion, which means we can accommodate as many Sherlockians and boon companions who wish to attend.

Guest speaker: DONNA ANDREWS

Award-winning mystery author Donna Andrews (www.donnaandrews.com) is herself a fan of Sherlock Holmes and has attended several meetings of The Red Circle.

Donna (pictured at left) writes two award-winning mystery series. The Penguin Who Knew Too Much (August 2007) is the eighth in her series from St. Martin's, featuring blacksmith Meg Langslow. Delete All Suspects (November 2005), is the fourth in her "technocozy" series from Berkley Prime Crime, featuring artificial intelligence personality Turing Hopper.

Donna will have books to sell and sign at the dinner, or you can bring your previously purchased books for her to sign.

* Formal attire requested but not required.

CANONICAL TOASTS
The traditional first toast is always to The Woman, Mrs. Godfrey Norton née Adler. This toast is to be delivered by our guest of honor, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, who hints he is likely to propose additional toasts to the venerable Mrs. Hudson, the late Mrs. John Watson née Morstan, and to "a certain Gracious Lady."

"There is nothing like first-hand evidence - "
It's possible that Paul Churchill, B.S.I. - our group's co-founder, past Gasogene and collector extraordinaire - will, should he be able to join us, share treasures from his unique and always intriguing collection of relics from John H. Watson's actual faux battered tin box. This is always a hands-on experience, but we suggest washing them ahead of time. There seems to be no end to the authentically genuine wonders that Paul is able to produce from the tin box!

"Come if convenient. If inconvenient, come all the same."
