This story is of a time when the earth was but a young newborn. Uninhabited and vast, the planet was covered in nothing but wasteland and huge mountains that spewed scorching liquid onto the already dismal ground below. The rocks trembled with fissures and earthquakes, and it seemed as if no life was to ever claim this horrid place as it's home.

The blazing sun had gone into submission, clambering tiredly behind the large horizon as the first stars of night began to appear in the sky, casting shadows over the land. A huge volcano stood alone, like a sentinel surrounded by an army of dry desert. The boulders shuddered as another explosion could be felt arising from its depths.

Deep inside, the monstrous interior was lined with huge walls of rock, covered at the very bottom with a seemingly never-ending sea of molten lava. The pillars began to tremble, crumbling and collapsing as the magma stirred violently. In a split second, the lava rose into the sky, filling the chamber with unimaginable heat and choking ash. The surrounding land shook violently, cracks bursting open and immediately being filled with liquid lava. Neighbouring volcanoes burst open as the pressure of the heat and magma took control. So early did it seem this silent planet was too be destroyed, until the trembling and eruptions all stopped as quickly as they began.

As the final grains of ash settled onto the horrifically wounded land, all was silent once again. The great volcano still stood alone among the rubble, barely intact but strong. Deep within the depths of it, the lake of fire lowered, slipping away from the rocky ledges. One lone island sat within the molten fire, seized and hardened by the explosions. On the very tip was a small indent and there lay an oval object, still sizzling from the intense heat. It's shell glowed red and orange like bright embers. Inside, a creature stirred, lulled to sleep by the lullaby of flames surrounding it.
