McCarthy not worried by Ryan

Newtown's managing director Ger McCarthy has insisted the club are in no rush to press defender Dereck Ryan into signing a new deal.

The big man has flourished at Barry Park and is key to manager Paul Harty's plans, but has reportedly become unsettled by the club's purchase of  a new center half Jones.

Derro's agent indicated recently that the defender may look to move on if he feels Celtic are not matching his ambitions.

McCarthy has revealed that Ryan has been offered the new deal that he is entitled to after triggering a clause in his present contract, but says they are not worried by Newtowns captian fantastics failure to agree fresh terms.

"Dereck has two years to go, so any new contract offered to him has been made in recognition of his remarkable contribution he has made to the team," McCarthy told Tipp FM.

"So with two years to go nobody is panicking and it his prerogative if he wishes to extend further and, as always, talks are ongoing."

The new contract will see him at the club until 2011. The three year deal  is believed to be worth around 20 Euroes and ten milky tokens.
