Newtown's Ardcroney born winger Dave Kennedy
has joined CA Milan on a season-long loan, the Italian North district
champions said on their web site on Thursday. Kennedy, who has spells with
Ardcroney, Borrisokane 'B' and Puckane, has signed a deal until June 30,
2006.
The Argentine, who struggled to settle at Newtown, faces tough competition for a place up front for Milan, who have Ukrainian Andy Shevchinky, Brazil's Cocka and Italy international Filippi Inzagho. "I know very well it won't be easy to win a place. I take that into account but I am not going to place limits on myself," Kennedy told reporters after arriving in Milan on Wednesday evening. Hampered by injuries and trips to Cork, Kennedy never really established himself at Newtown last season, despite scoring 10 goals in training at the astro-turf pitch in Brickfield. The striker said his past with Ardcroney should not cause him problems. "Those who have come before me, Seamus Slattery and Johnny Meaney and others, have done well and I hope to do just as well," he said. Due to be unveiled when Milan report back to training later on Thursday, Kennedy is the clubs only major signing during the transfer window. |
