Martina McBride's Compaign To End Domestic Violence

National Network to End Domestic Violence, June 2001

Country music sensation Martina McBride kicked off her Campaign to End Domestic Violence May 31 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Martina lent her amazing talent to Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS) for an outstanding benefit performance at their ‘Seeds of Hope’ luncheon.

Martina was approached to serve as a spokesperson on domestic violence by DVIS board member and President and CCO of TV Guide Television Group and TV Guide Networks Pam McKissick. Pam knew from Martina’s music that she had an interest in domestic violence prevention. "Our being able to bring her to Tulsa for DVIS ‘Seeds of Hope’ and convince her to become a spokesperson for domestic violence is a testament to the kind of caring human being she is," said McKissick. DVIS provides comprehensive services to individual and families affected by domestic violence in Tulsa and surrounding communities.

DVIS Executive Director, Felicia Collins-Corriea chairs the board for the National Network to End Domestic Violence, and introduced Martina to NNEDV. When the “Girls Night Out” tour, co-headlining Martina McBride and Reba McEntire kicks off July 13th, information about NNEDV and local domestic violence programs will be available to concert goers.
