Emotion review

When I bought Martina's latest CD, I didn't know what to expect. I had heard the song, "I Love You" and really liked it. I had heard from several different sources that this album was very different than her last album, Evolution. So, when I turned on the CD player, I did so with an open mind.

I must say that the album is definately different than her previous albums. As a matter of fact, I'd say that this album is much more "pop" sounding than anything she's done before. But that's not to say I don't like it. Continue on to see just what I thought of the songs on this album.

Do What You Do - The opening instruments sound very much like "I Love You." It's a very catchy song; mid-tempo, and enjoyable.

Anything's Better Than Feelin' the Blues - Another mid-tempo song. A good one to listen to.

I Love You - This is the first single, as well as part of the Runaway Bride soundtrack. It reminds me a lot of "This Kiss" both in the sound and the video.

Make Me Believe - This is a mid-tempo ballad about a girl telling the guy that he better make her believe that he loves her, cuz she isn't going to be anyone's fool.

Love's The Only House - This is a neat "message" song. I'm sure this will be a single. Very different in that she sort of talks some of the verses.

There You Are - I hope this one is released as a single. It's a very lovely ballad.

It's My Time - This is another excellent song. This talks about making the best of time.

I Ain't Goin' Nowhere - Another really catchy song, especially the phrasing and chorus.

Anything and Everything - This ballad was written by two of the three main writers of all of Garth Brooks' Chris Gaines music, Gordon Kennedy, and Wayne Kirkpatrick. Great song. Very mellow.

From the Ashes - I think this song needs to grow on me. It's a slow ballad. Nice, but not my favorite song on the album.

Goodbye - This is another mid-tempo ballad. Like the previous song, it doesn't do much for me.

This Uncivil War - This song is reminiscent of an "Independence Day" or "A Broken Wing," and is sure to be another hit for Martina.

I'd rate this CD 4 1/2 out of 5. Lots of great music here.
