Evolution review

Queens Of Country

Quite wonderful are two words that I would use to describe Martina McBride's latest release Evolution. Evolution does indeed show how well McBride's career has evolved as her recordings get better and better. The Way that I Am was good Wild Angels was very good and this is something quite special.

The album itself also shows Martina's personal evolution as the first track is a short clip of Martina singing aged 7. Fortunately for all of us she has improved greatly!

My one criticism would be that while all of the songs are very good it does not have a killer track. Still Holdin' On (a duet with Clint Back) is a very powerful track, Valentine is a wonderful romantic number and Happy Girl is just such a "Happy" number that you can't help but like it, but there is not an Independence Day, although this is a touch unfair because most artists would be quite happy with one Independence Day in their whole career. I would heartily recommend this album as it is a prime example of well made, well written, and well performed country.

Best Song: Valentine
