Martina: Thank you so much, I am so glad that you all are here. And you're there and I've got some good friends that are waiting backstage to come out here and play some good music for you all. This is my very first television special and I am so excited. And I appreciate everybody sharing it with me. You know, my first guest is a guy that I have just admired and loved his music from the very first tim I heard it and when I found out I was gonna get my special, I definitely wanted him to come and be part of it. Mr Leroy Parnell.
Leroy comes out.
Martina continues: You know, Leroy, I've... Not only am I crazy for your voice, but I've always loved your songs and your choice of songs. You just really pick some wonderful songs. And I was wondering if you could... Martina turns to audience) Do you all would like to hear a couple. (the audience applauses and Martina turns to Leroy) Could you play us a couple of those songs?
Leroy: You mean just like (...) to (...) in here?
Martina: Just off the top of your head.
Leroy: Will you help me out?
Martina: OK, I'd love to.

Martina: Beautiful.
Leroy: You do good, girl.
Martina: Well... What about "Hold My Own"? I love that song!

Leroy: Well I'm counting on you now. (...)
Martina: OK, OK.
Martina and Leroy sing together.
Leroy (in between the song): I love the way you sing.
Martina (when they are finished): Oh yeah! Beautiful! Beautiful! You know, when I was making my album, this last album that I made, I called you. I wanted you to come sing on my record.
Leroy: Man, when Martina calls, you listen. Let me tell you. But I... It was one of those... We had been touring and I had gotten (...) job (...) on the road...
Martina (disappointed): Oh...
Leroy: And the way it landed was, it... You would not have liked what I did on your record.

Martina: Alright! Good deal. Yeah.

Martina: You know... You know, before you go too far, we have somebody... The next friend that I wanna bring out is a friend of both of ours. I know we both admire his writing a lot, cause you have one of his songs on your album
Leroy: I have been... I have been a (...) of Delbert McClinton for a long time.
Martina: Yes! And I have one of his songs on my album that we're gonna do. Mr Delbert McClinton!
Delbert: Thank you!
Martina: You know what, I've been so curious about this song. I've sang it, you know, every night in concert for a while now, and it's on the album... I've been so curious, is there a story behind this song?
Delbert: Yeah. (Martina laughs) Well, it's pretty... It pretty much speaks for itself. We.. We went to California from Texas, me and this girl I'd known since we were teenagers. And we... we went on and were living our own lives and she came (...) I was working one night and she'd just gotten a divorce. And we kind of fell in love, you know. And we decided we take... She had a 66 Krysler she had got in the divorce (...) and a little bit of money. (they laugh) And I asked her if she wanted to come with me to California. And she said she's in.
Martina: (...) I couldn't really hear what she was saying.
Delbert: Well, you know, I thought it would be good for both of us. (Everyone laughs) So we went to California and it took me (...) good job. And she got little tired of it.
Martina: Oh...
Delbert: And so she left me.
Martina (feeling sorry for him): Oh...
Delbert: Well it was OK because I wrote the song (...) (Martina laughs) It takes that sometimes. I don't really wanna go through much more to write songs, but, you know, I was a lot younger. And... So within twenty minutes of her leaving I wrote this song.
Martina: Alright! Well it's a wonderful song.
Delbert: Well let's do it.
Martina:
And a wonderful story. Let's do it. "Two more bottles of wine"
Yeah!
Delbert: Alright!
