by Jennifer-Lynn D'Anna

Episodes 21 - 25

EPISODE 21

SCENE 1: JACK AND JENNIFER ARE ABOUT TO KISS WHEN THERE IS A LOUD KNOCK ON THE SIDE OF THE VAN. THEY BOTH JUMP BACK IN SURPRISE.

JACK: (LOOKING AT JENNIFER NERVOUSLY) What the--?

JENNIFER: (FRIGHTENED) Jack, who is it?

(JUST THEN A MAN APPEARS AT JENNIFER'S WINDOW)

MAN: (IN A THICK IRISH ACCENT) It's Larry.

(JACK AND JENNIFER LOOK AT THIS MAN STRANGELY. THEY ARE BOTH SCARED)

JACK: (SMILING NERVOUSLY) Hehehe. Excuse me for being a bit intrusive, Larry is it? But who exactly are you?

LARRY: Your guide.

(JENNIFER THROWS JACK A LOOK OF CURIOUSITY)

JACK: (CONFUSED) Our guide? Our guide to what, dare I ask?

LARRY: (PULLING OFF HIS WIDE-BRIMMED HAT AND WIPING HIS FOREHEAD) Why, the DiMera estate of course. Stefano thought you might want someone to show you around.

(JACK AND JENNIFER LOOK AT EACH OTHER. THEY KNOW THAT STEFANO IS ONTO THEM)

SCENE 2: JACK AND JENNIFER HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THAT STEFANO KNOWS THEY ARE THERE. LARRY, HIS GUIDE, HAS OFFERED TO SHOW THEM AROUND.

JACK: Stefano wants to show us around? (LAUGHING NERVOUSLY) To show us around? (LAUGHING MORE NERVOUSLY) Jennifer, did you hear that? He wants to...to...to show us around.

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT JACK STRANGELY. SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING) To show us around? (SHE LAUGHS WITH HIM)

JACK: (LAUGHING) He wants to show us...seasoned reporters...around.

(LARRY LOOKS AT THEM AND SCRATCHES HIS HEAD)

JACK: (SLAPPING HIS KNEE) Well, that really won't be necessary. You see, we are perfectly capable of showing ourselves around. I mean, what's a little independence between friends? I'm sure that if you ask Stef-

LARRY: Stefano assured me you are not his friends. He did, however, leave word that you are to be taken in and treated with the utmost respect. After all, we wouldn't want any bad press, would we? (HE STICKS HIS HAND SLIGHTLY IN HIS JACKET, INDICATING HE HAS A GUN)

JACK: (DEFEATED) No...no...I guess we wouldn't. (TO JENNIFER) Jennifer, if you would...kindly allow the gentleman to help you out of the car and I will get the luggage from the back.

(JENNIFER RELUCTANTLY GETS OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND JACK WALKS AROUND TO THE BACK OF THE VAN AND BEGINS TO GO THROUGH THE BAGS, WATCHING HER ALL THE WHILE)

LARRY: You won't be needing any of your luggage.

JACK: (SMILING NERVOUSLY) You see, dear sir, on my account you are correct. However, on the young lady's you are most certainly wrong. She needs all sorts of beauty products to get her through the day. You don't think she wakes up this pretty, do you?

(JENNIFER GLARES AT JACK)

LARRY: (LOOKING JENNIFER UP AND DOWN) She looks fine to me. Besides, Stefano has taken care of everything.

JACK: Of everything, eh? Well, you know what they say, Larry, familiarity is the key to everything. (HE LIFTS UP HIS BAG). Alright, if we can't bring the makeup, can we at least bring our laptop and work-related materials? A good reporter never leaves home without it.

LARRY: (NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO) I guess so. Just one bag.

JACK: (PUTTING THINGS TOGETHER IN A BAG) One bag it is. (HE THROWS THE LAPTOP CASE ON HIS SHOULDER AND WALKS TO JENNIFER) Shall we? (HE GRABS HER HAND) (TO LARRY) Which way good man?

LARRY: (PLACING HIS HAT BACK ON HIS HEAD) This way, please.

JACK: (TO JENNIFER) Apres-vous. (HE GESTURES FOR HER TO GO AHEAD)

(JENNIFER WALKS AHEAD AND THEN JACK FOLLOWS SUIT. OUT ON THE LAPTOP CASE, WHICH HAS THE WALKIE TALKIE'S STUFFED IN THE OUTSIDE POCKET)

SCENE 3: WELCOME TO PARADISE. JACK AND JENNIFER ARRIVE AT DIMERA'S ESTATE AND ARE SHOWN TO THEIR ROOM.

(JACK AND JENNIFER WALK INTO THEIR ROOM AND LOOK AROUND AT HOW ELEGANT IT IS)

JENNIFER: Jack, we should've run.

JACK: (CLOSING THE DOOR) What and be mailed back to Salem? Two can play at this game. (HE SETS THE LAPTOP CASE ON THE BED)

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AROUND THE ROOM IN AWE) I don't understand it, Jack. Stefano had every reason to get rid of us back there.

JACK: Let's not be pessimistic here.

JENNIFER: Jack, pessimism is your middle name.

JACK: I am not pessimistic.

JENNIFER: You are not optimistic.

JACK: I am realistic.

JENNIFER: (RAISING HER EYEBROWS AT HIM) Realistic, Jack?

JACK: (ACTING SURPRISED) Realistic...ballistic. Look, it doesn't matter what I am. Stefano is using us-you and I-for some reason. It is in our best interest that we find out what exactly that reason is. However, our first order of (IMITATING JOHN'S VOICE) duty is to tell our (IMITATING JOHN'S VOICE AGAIN) fellow troops--what exactly is going on here. (HE HOLDS OUT A WALKIE TALKIE) Now do you want to do the honors or shall I?

(OUT ON JENNIFER LOOKING AT THE WALKIE TALKIE)

SCENE 4: JENNIFER AND JACK TALK MAKEUP

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT THE WALKIE TALKIE) Is that what you were trying to get from the van?

JACK: (SMILING) You didn't think I meant that whole makeup business, did you?

JENNIFER: (COVERING) No. (SHE GRABS THE WALKIE TALKIE) Jack Deveraux, you amaze me sometimes.

JACK: (SMILING AND LOOKING SHEEPISH) I like amazed.

JENNIFER: (SMILING) No, Jack, you amaze me how...how quickly you think. Here I am thinking that you are just being annoying...being Jack...

JACK: Hey-

JENNIFER: (SMILING) And you're thinking about how to get us help.

JACK: At your expense. Truth is, you look anything but haggard in the morning. You look rather...

JENNIFER: (TAKING A STEP TOWARDS JACK) Rather what, Jack?

JACK: Rather...rather...(PULLING THE WALKIE-TALKIE TO HIS MOUTH) We really should call the troops, you know. (IN TRUCKER CB VOICE) Pulitzer to Scooby-gang...Pulitzer to Scooby-gang...come in...

JENNIFER: Pulitzer, Jack?

JACK: (PULLING A FACE) Come in. Cub reporter, no, Bimpy Blonde to Scooby-gang...can you read me?

JENNIFER: I am not a bimpy blonde. (GETTING NERVOUS) Why aren't they responding?

JACK: (TRYING TO REMAIN CALM) I don't know. Give me your phone (SHE HANDS HIM THE PHONE). No signal.

JENNIFER: Try yours.

JACK: Good, good. Try mine. (HE PICKS UP HIS PHONE) No signal, either.

JENNIFER: Jack, what does this mean?

JACK: This means we need to get new calling plans. (SHRUGGING) Okay, seriously, this means we do the one thing I hate more than anything else.

JENNIFER: We have to climb out of here?

JACK: No.

JENNIFER: We have to buy off-the-rack?

JACK: (GIVING HER A LOOK) No.

JENNIFER: We have to budget?

JACK: No, no, no. Wait, Jennifer, we have to wait.

JENNIFER: Jack, we can't wait. We have to warn the others.

JACK: Well, unless you know the fine art of telepathy, I think we really have no other choice. Besides, they'll figure out something's up when we don't call them...they have to.

JENNIFER: (TURNING AWAY) You think they will?

JACK: (GOING TO TOUCH HER BACK, BUT THEN DROPPING HIS HAND) I do. (HE DOESN'T LOOK TOO SURE)

SCENE 5: MAKING THE BEST OF THE SITUATION

JENNIFER: (TURNING BACK TOWARDS HIM) Okay, we'll just wait then.

JACK: That's what I've been saying all along.

JENNIFER: But not without taking a look around first (SHE OPENS THE DOOR AND SEES A GUARD)

GUARD: Going somewhere lass?

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT JACK FOR HELP) Uh...

JACK: (WALKING TO THE DOOR TO HELP HER) What the lady is saying is no, she's not. She just forgot that this was the door. (SMILING) She was looking for the little girls' room. (TO JENNIFER) Jennifer, how many times do I have to tell you...East is that way (POINTS). (TO GUARD) You know women and their sense of direction. Sorry for bothering you. (CLOSES THE DOOR) Whew.

JENNIFER: We're trapped. Jack, what are we going to do? (SHE LOOKS TOWARDS THE WINDOWS) They're barred. Jack, there must be a hundred rooms in here. Bo and Hope will never find us.

JACK: (PLACING HIS HANDS ON BOTH OF HER SHOULDERS) Jennifer, Jennifer, calm down. This is not going to help. I've never let you down before, have I?

(JENNIFER PULLS A FACE)

Hey, didn't we go over this a few weeks ago at the morgue? In life and death situations I've scored a perfect ten, right?

JENNIFER: I guess. But, Jack...

JACK: But what, Jennifer? So, we're not in a morgue, or on a ship, or on a train, but we're together. Besides, you said it yourself, Stefano had every reason to get rid of us earlier.

JENNIFER: (FRIGHTENED) What about Abby, Jack? What if she's not okay?

JACK: (LYING) I'm sure she's fine. Probably giving Jo and Vern a run for their money as we speak. It's her mother I'm worried about.

JENNIFER: (HUGGING HERSELF) I'm sorry. I just don't like this situation.

JACK: And I do? Personally I could think of a hundred places I'd rather be right now. Firing squad, the middle of the Sahara...

(JENNIFER LAUGHS)

See, I heard that. Now, let's just make the best of this situation. (STARTS LOOKING AROUND THE ROOM) There's got to be something to eat around here.

(THERE IS A KNOCK ON THE DOOR)

JENNIFER: (THROWING JACK A LOOK) Who is it?

(A GUARD OPENS THE DOOR AND PUSHES IN A CART OF FOOD.)

GUARD: Mr. DiMera thought you might enjoy a little bite to eat. He also said that you should make yourselves comfortable, for the next meal will be in the state room tomorrow morning.

JACK: (LOOKING AT THE FOOD) How very kind. Thank you, garcon.

(THE GUARD LEAVES AND JACK AND JENNIFER LOOK AT THE FOOD)

JENNIFER: Bon appetit, Jack. (SHE PICKS UP A BREADSTICK AND PUTS IT IN HIS MOUTH).

SCENE 6:

(JACK AND JENNIFER HAVE JUST FINISHED EATING AND ARE NOW SITTING ON THE BED. THEY HAVE HAD TOO MUCH TO DRINK AND ARE STILL POURING WINE)

JACK: More for you, my lady? (HE HOLDS UP THE BOTTLE)

JENNIFER: (GIGGLING) Why, thank you, kind sir. (SHE TAKES A SIP OUT OF HER WINE AND HICCUPS AND THEN COVERS HER MOUTH)

JACK: (SLURRING A LITTLE) Doth the lady have a dire case of the hiccups?

JENNIFER: (HICCUPING AGAIN) No. (SHE GIGGLES) Jack, I really don't think we should drink in this situation.

JACK: And normally neither would I. But as you can see, we have no other choice. We're surrounded by henchmen and well, you heard the man, we will not be seen again until the morn. So, as a wise man once said, bottom's up (HE TAKES A LARGE SIP OF WINE)

JENNIFER: (GIGGLING) It does get my mind off the situation.

JACK: (BRUSHING HER FACE WITH HIS HAND) I could think of a few other things to get your mind off the situation.

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT HIS HAND ON HER FACE) Oh really?

JACK: Really. It involved two people...and it's a lot of fun.

JENNIFER: (SMILING) It does? Wait, it's not work, is it?

JACK: No, even better. I used to do it a lot when I was younger.

JENNIFER: (APPREHENSIVE) Okay. When you were younger?

JACK: Yes, I do, however, think we can do it now...to get our minds off things, of course.

JENNIFER: (GIGGLING) To get our minds off things.

JACK: Are you ready?

JENNIFER: (SMILING WIDELY) Ready as I'll ever be.

JACK: We are going to play...drumroll please...

(JENNIFER DOES A DRUMROLL ON HER LAP)

Truth or dare.

(MEANWHILE, THE OTHERS ARE WONDERING WHY THEY HAVEN'T HEARD FROM JACK AND JENNIFER. REALIZING THEY COULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT, THEY DECIDE TO HEAD OUT, BY FOOT, IN SEARCH OF THEM)

SCENE 7: I DARE YOU...

(JACK AND JENNIFER ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF PLAYING TRUTH OR DARE. THEY ARE BOTH A BIT TIPSY. JENNIFER IS ON THE BED SITTING INDIAN STYLE AND JACK IS WEARING JENNIFER'S ROBE AND SINGING "AGONY" FROM "INTO THE WOODS". JENNIFER IS LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY AT HIM.)

JACK: (BOWING) Thank you very much. I'll be here all week. Tips are appreciated. (HE PICKS UP HIS GLASS AND WALKS BACK OVER TO THE BED)

JENNIFER: You always pick dare, Jack.

JACK: What, do you not enjoy my antics?

JENNIFER: No, but you never pick truth.

JACK: One who searches for truth rarely speaks it. (SITTING ON THE BED) Your turn...truth or dare?

JENNIFER: (SMILING) Truth.

JACK: (SMILING BACK. HE IS ENJOYING HIMSELF GREATLY) Okay...best kiss.

JENNIFER: (GIGGLING) I feel like I'm sixteen again. Let's see. (SHE LOOKS UP THINKING)

JACK: (FEIGNING ANNOYANCE) It can't be that hard.

JENNIFER: Shhhhhhhh. I'm thinking.

JACK: (LOOKING AT HIS WATCH) It sure is taking a long time.

JENNIFER: Jack, it's not that easy. I mean, I've had great kisses.

JACK: Maybe I should rephrase my question...which kiss meant the most to you?

JENNIFER: That's easy. (SHE TAKES A LONG SIP OF HER WINE AND RAISES HER EYEBROWS AT JACK'S IMPATIENCE)

JACK: Easy? (HE SMILES BEHIND HIS WINE GLASS)

JENNIFER: (GIGGLING AGAIN) Yeah, Jack, that's an easy one. The one in Steve and Kayla's house, when we were looking for the diary key. Do you remember that one?

JACK: Do I ever (HE LOOKS OFF THINKING ABOUT IT). Yes, (COMING BACK TO REALITY) yes, I do.

JENNIFER: (SIPPING HER WINE) How 'bout you, Jack? Which kiss (PUTTING UP HER FINGERS IN QUOTATION MARKS) meant the most to you?

JACK: I don't believe this is part of the game.

JENNIFER: C'mon, Jack.

JACK: Okay, if we must. (HE REALLY LIKES THIS IDEA) Hmmmmmmmmmm...

JENNIFER: Jack!

JACK: Like you said, this takes time...there was Mitzy Robbins, my high-school crush, Bundt cake...

JENNIFER: Jack, you never kissed Eve.

JACK: No, not really, anyway. Okay, I got it. The first kiss we ever had. The one in my office.

JENNIFER: Ah, the pushy person kiss. Why?

JACK: Well, for obvious reasons, of course. It started something.

JENNIFER: (SMILING) And what a something it was. Okay, favorite fight?

JACK: Between us? The one when I kidnapped you to the mountains. You were so mad. You made that dog deaf, you know. Favorite date?

JENNIFER: Jack, we never dated.

JACK: Okay, favorite situation that threw us together then?

JENNIFER: The cruise. It brought our relationship to a whole new level.

JACK: (SMILING) Any regrets?

JENNIFER: (GETTING VERY QUIET) A few.

JACK: (SADLY) Too numerous to recall.

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT HIM WITH GREAT LOVE) I've missed you, Jack.

JACK: (RETURNING HER LOOK WITH GREAT LOVE) I've missed you too, Miss Horton.

JENNIFER: I've been thinking about what you said...about us trying again.

JACK: Jennifer, I'm sorry, I know that it's over. We'll work some kind of agreement out with Abigail and custody. I know it hurts you too much.

JENNIFER: I'd like to.

JACK: (NOT HEARING HER) I was being selfish. I just know that you are the best thing that ever happened to me and I didn't...(BEAT) What did you say?

JENNIFER: (SMILING WITH TEARS IN HER EYES) I said I'd like to try, Jack...within reason, of course.

JACK: (SMILING. HE CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT HE IS HEARING) Within reason.

JENNIFER: Slowly, Jack. Let's go slowly. A lot of things went wrong between us, but a lot of things went right, too. I want to be sure that we're doing the right thing. (SHE LEANS ON HER PILLOW AND YAWNS. SHE IS VERY TIRED.)

JACK: Of course. I tell you what, Jennifer, when we get back to Salem, I'm going to take you on one of those date things. Complete with flowers, and violins, and sweaty palms.

JENNIFER: (SMILING) I'd like that, Jack. (SHE SHUTS HER EYES)

JACK: So would I, Jennifer. (HE LOOKS AT HER ASLEEP) So would I. (HE SMILES AND GETS UP AND WALKS TO THE BATHROOM. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WALK HE JUMPS UP AND KICKS HIS HEELS TOGETHER. HE IS VERY HAPPY.)

EPISODE 22

SCENE 1: IT IS THE NEXT MORNING. JACK AND JENNIFER ARE SEATED IN THE DINING ROOM FOR BREAKFAST. JACK IS LOOKING CLOSELY AT HIS BUTTER KNIFE FOR SPOTS. JENNIFER IS WATCHING HIM.

(THE DOOR OPENS AND JOHN, ABE, HOPE, AND BO WALK IN)

JENNIFER: (SHOCKED) What--?

BO: (SITTING DOWN) Calm down, Jenn. They picked us up last night. (HE SITS DOWN)

JACK: The transmitter was broken. We tried to get you a message.

JOHN: (SITTING DOWN) We know. Apparently DiMera is onto us.

JACK: (COCKING HIS EYEBROW) Ya think?

JENNIFER: (LOWERING HER VOICE) John, do you think Lexie is still here?

JOHN: I don't know, Jenn, I don't know. (BUTTERING HIS TOAST) All I know is that we need to somehow get a good look around this place.

JACK: And how (LOWERING HIS VOICE) how do you plan on doing that with (NODDING TO THE DOOR) Hercules and company out there?

HOPE: (LEANING FORWARD) Jack's right. Stefano's got us under close watch.

ABE: (LOOKING AROUND) Not close enough. Listen, I've got an idea.

(THE SCENE ENDS WITH EVERYONE LEANING IN AROUND THE TABLE)

SCENE 2: A FIGHT ERUPTS

(THE GANG ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF BREAKFAST AND HOPE AND JENNIFER ARE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER NERVOUSLY)

JENNIFER: (RAISING HER VOICE) I can't believe you'd say that, Hope!

HOPE: (LOOKING AT JENNIFER AND RAISING HER VOICE AS WELL) I only speak the truth, you little...(SEARCHING FOR WORDS AND STANDING UP) little blonde hussy!

(JACK AND BO CAN'T HELP BUT SMILE AT THIS)

JENNIFER: (GETTING UP) Hussy?! Look who's calling who a hussy? You little fancy faced--

(CUT TO OUTSIDE THE DOOR, WHERE THE GUARDS ARE LISTENING INTENTLY. THEY SPEAK WITH IRISH ACCENTS)

GUARD #1: Sounds like things are getting a wee bit heated in there.

GUARD #2: (PUTTING HIS EAR CLOSER TO THE DOOR) I'd say. My money's on the blonde.

GUARD #3: I don't know. The brunette is an ex-cop, you know.

GUARD #4: I've heard the blonde has a nasty temper, though.

GUARD #1: What do you say guys? Shall we break this little catfight up? (HE GOES TO OPEN THE DOOR)

GUARD #2: (SMILING) Awww, do we have to?

(THEY OPEN THE DOOR AND SEE JENNIFER AND HOPE ROLLING AROUND ON THE FLOOR COVERED IN FOOD, FIGHTING)

JENNIFER: (LOUDLY. TRYING NOT TO LAUGH) What, Hope, you don't remember how to punch? I'm not surprised.

HOPE: (SPEAKING LOUDER THAN JENNIFER AND TRYING TO HIDE HER SMILE) And you say you're a reporter? Is that the best you can do?

(BO AND JACK LOOK AT THE GUARDS, WHO, LIKE THEM, WANT TO DIE LAUGHING)

SCENE 3:

(JENNIFER AND HOPE ARE STILL ON THE GROUND FIGHTING)

BO: (STIFLING LAUGHTER) Okay, that's enough. Hope, leave Jennifer alone.

JENNIFER: (TRYING TO COVER HER SMILE) You want a piece of me, huh?

JACK: Jenn-Miss Horton, that's enough. (TO GUARDS) Would you gentlemen mind?

GUARD #1: (SMILING) Not at all.

(THE GUARDS LEAN FORWARD TO BREAK UP THE FIGHT AND JOHN SHOUTS "NOW" FROM BEHIND THEM. JACK, JOHN, ABE, AND BO BEGIN FIGHTING THE GUARDS. JENNIFER AND HOPE GET UP TO HELP.)

JENNIFER: (SEEING JACK IN TROUBLE) Jack! (SHE THROWS HIM A VASE AND HE KNOCKS OUT THE GUARD)

JACK: Thank you, Miss Horton. We do make a great team, don't we? (REACHING OUT TO GRAB HER HAND)

JENNIFER: (GRABBING HIS HAND AND SMILING WIDELY) That we do. (SHE SEES JOHN, WHO IS GETTING PUNCHED REPEATEDLY AND JUMPS ON THE GUARD'S BACK, SCREAMING)

(JACK SEES ABE, WHO IS ALSO BEING PUNCHED AND DECIDES TO DO THE SAME AS JENNIFER. HE JUMPS ON THE GUARD'S BACK SCREAMING. BO AND HOPE, WHO HAVE JUST KNOCKED OUT THE OTHER GUARD, LOOK AT HIM STRANGELY).

SCENE 4: QUICK CHANGE

(THE SCENE OPENS TO THE GUYS, WHO ARE NOW DRESSED IN THE GUARDS OUTFITS. THE GUARDS ARE KNOCKED OUT AND TIED UP WITH RIPPED UP TABLECLOTHS ON THE FLOOR)

JENNIFER: (BUTTONING JACK'S JACKET) Khaki is definitely not your color, Jack.

JACK: (SMILING) True. When this is all through, remind me to talk to Steffy about changing the regime's color to blue. I'll most certainly look dashing then.

JENNIFER: (LEANING IN AND GIVING HIM A QUICK PECK ON THE MOUTH) Most certainly. (SMILING, SHE STEPS BACK FROM HIM AND ADMIRES HER HANDIWORK) All done.

JACK: (TOUCHING HIS MOUTH IN SHOCK OVER THE KISS) Hehehehe. (SALUTING HER) So, do I look like a henchman?

HOPE: (WALKING BEHIND JENNIFER AND SMILING) A very handsome henchman indeed.

(BEHIND HER, BO CLEARS HIS THROAT)

Second to my husband, of course. (SHE TURNS AND GIVES BO A BIG KISS)

(JACK AND JENNIFER STARE AT EACH OTHER UNCOMFORTABLY)

JOHN: (WALKING OVER) Okay, troops, it's time to fall out. Kiss your women and children goodbye.

ABE: (SADLY) I just wish I could find my woman.

JOHN: We'll find her, Abraham. We will.

ABE: (QUIETLY) I just hope it's not too late.

(THE SCENE ENDS WITH EVERYONE LOOKING AT ABE WITH GREAT CONCERN)

SCENE 5: PARTING IS SUCH SWEET SORROW

(THE GROUP IS UNCOMFORTABLY LOOKING AT BO AND HOPE, WHO ARE KISSING AND CUDDLING AND DO NOT SEEM TO WANT TO LET EACH OTHER GO.)

JACK: (SNEAKING AN UNCOMFORTABLE LOOK AT BO AND HOPE AND THEM SMILING AT JENNIFER) The PDA's, again, I see.

JENNIFER: (SMILING) Those pesky PDA's.

JACK: (MATCHING HER SMILE) Pesky, indeed. Damn them all.

JENNIFER: (SMILING WIDER AND MOVING IN CLOSER) Damn them all you say.

JACK: Damn them all. (NOTICING HOW CLOSE SHE IS) Jennifer, what are you doing?

JENNIFER: Well, Jack, you heard John. Say goodbye to your women and children.

JACK: (OBLIVIOUS AND SMILING) Oh? Well, I said goodbye to Abigail back in Salem.

JENNIFER: (WANTING TO LAUGH AT HOW OBLIVIOUS HE IS) No, Jack, your women...your woman...(BATTING HER EYELASHES). Me...?

JACK: Oh, well...um (SEEING EVERYONE LOOKING AT THEM AND GETTING NERVOUS) Goodbye, Jennifer. (HE LEANS FORWARD TO KISS HER AND IS ABOUT TO WHEN HE GETS NERVOUS AND PLANTS A PECK ON HER CHEEK). Be careful. (HE STEPS AWAY)

JOHN: Okay, men...let's go. (NODDING TO JENNIFER AND HOPE) Ladies, you know the plan.

(JENNIFER AND HOPE NOD IN AGREEMENT. JENNIFER IS DISAPPOINTED AT JACK'S KISS)

(THE MEN GO TO LEAVE AND AT THE DOORWAY, JACK STOPS. BO, JOHN, AND ABE LOOK AT HIM)

JACK: (TO HIMSELF AND OTHERS) Oh, what the hell! (HE STORMS BACK IN AND GRABS JENNIFER, WHO HAS TURNED TO TALK TO HOPE, BY THE ARM AND SPINS HER AROUND, CATCHING HER OFF GUARD)

JENNIFER: (EYES WIDE WITH SURPRISE) Jack!

JACK: (HE PLACES A FINGER TO HER LIPS) Shhhh. (HE DIPS HER AND GIVES HER A HARD, PASSIONATE KISS AS THE OTHERS LOOK ON IN AMAZEMENT)

SCENE 6:

(JACK AND JENNIFER ARE STILL KISSING WHEN THE SCENE OPENS. THEY BOTH COME UP FOR AIR AND SMILE AT EACH OTHER)

JENNIFER: (QUIETLY, AS IF THEY WERE ALONE) Jack.

JACK: (PUTTING HIS FINGER TO HIS MOUTH) Shhhh. You wouldn't want me to resort to dire tactics again, would you?

JENNIFER: (SMILING) Well...

JACK: (KISSING HER AGAIN AND WIPING SOME FOOD OUT OF HER HAIR) Can I consider my woman sufficiently bid adieu?

JENNIFER: (KISSING HIM AND SMILING) Sufficiently.

JOHN: Okay, you two. I know it's been awhile, but the sooner we leave...

JACK: (PULLING A FACE) The sooner we get back. (TO JENNIFER) You be careful, okay? I don't want anything to happen to you. I (EMPHASIZING I) don't want anything to happen to you.

JENNIFER: I will. I promise. You and me against the world, remember?

JACK: (SMILING) Contramundum.

JENNIFER: (SMILING BACK) Contramundum.

(AT THE DOORWAY, JOHN TAPS HIS FOOT)

JACK: (ROLLING HIS EYES AT JOHN) I really should be going.

JENNIFER: You should. (SHE PULLS AWAY BUT STILL HOLDS HIS HAND) Oh, Jack?

JACK: Yes, Jennifer? (HE DOESN'T WANT TO LET GO OF HER HAND)

(JENNIFER GRABS JACK AND KISSES HIM, DIPPING HIM BACKWARDS. WHEN THEY COME UP, JACK WIPES HIS LIPS)

JACK: (SHOCKED BY HER BEHAVIOR) Jennifer!

JENNIFER: (SMILING) Does my man consider himself sufficiently bid adieu?

JACK: (STRAIGHTENING UP) Well...uh...uh...yes. Yes, he does. (HE WALKS OVER TO THE MEN, STANDING AT THE DOOR) Show's over, gentlemen. (HE GLANCES BACK AT JENNIFER)

JOHN: Now that that's over with. Once again, ladies (HE NODS TO JENNIFER AND HOPE).

(THE MEN LEAVE. JENNIFER IS LOOKING AT THE DOOR WISTFULLY AND TOUCHING HER LIPS)

HOPE: (WALKING IN FRONT OF HER AND SMILING) What the hell was that all about?

(JENNIFER STANDS THERE LOOKING AT HER IN SHOCK)

SCENE 7:

(HOPE HAS JUST ASKED JENNIFER WHAT THE WHOLE KISS WITH JACK WAS ABOUT)

JENNIFER: (PLAYING DUMB) What was that all about? What are you talking about, Hope?

HOPE: Jenn, your lies are as weak as your right hook. (SMILING) Are you and Jack on the road to recovery?

JENNIFER: Well...(WALKING AWAY AND THEN STOPPING AND SMILING WIDELY) We want to try again. But slowly. So don't expect wedding bells to ring anytime soon.

HOPE: (SMILING) I knew it. You and Jack back together. I'm getting my baby back. This may be a banner year for us Hortons yet. So, he understood about Colin? How it wasn't anything?

(JENNIFER DOESN'T ANSWER)

HOPE: You told him about Dr. Colin Murphy, right Jenn?

(JENNIFER LOOKS DOWN. HOPE HAS HER ANSWER. BEHIND THEM, ONE OF THE GUARDS STIRS)

GUARD #2: What do you lasses know about our boss?

HOPE: (WALKING OVER TO THE GUARD) Your boss?

GUARD #2: The lad--Colin Murphy.

JENNIFER: (RUNNING OVER TO THEM) You know Colin Murphy? How?

GUARD #2: Me should. I've only been working for him and his uncle most of me life.

(THE SCENE ENDS WITH JENNIFER AND HOPE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER VERY NERVOUSLY)

SCENE 8: WITH MY OWN TWO EYES

(THE MEN HAVE SPLIT INTO GROUPS OF TWO. BO IS WITH JACK AND THEY ARE GOING THROUGH THE DRAWERS IN AN OFFICE)

BO: (FLIPPING THROUGH PAPERS) I don't get it Jack. We haven't seen hide nor hair of Lexie. (BEAT) I just want to get this baby back and get back to Salem.

JACK: (TURNING AROUND TO BO, CONCERNED) We'll get your son back. I know it.

BO: (SMILING) Does this newfound optimism have anything to do with that kiss you laid on one Miss Jennifer Horton back there?

JACK: (SMILING NERVOUSLY) Well...let's just say Jennifer has a way of bringing out the best in me.

BO: And vice versa.

JACK: (SURPRISED) Vice-?

BO: Jack, I won't say that you've always been my favorite person to hang out with, I mean, we really have nothing in common, but take away that potato/po-tot-oe stuff and I can see that deep down, you really are a good guy. And Jennifer, Jennifer, is at her best when she's with you. I'm glad you're back, man (HE CLAPS JACK ON THE SHOULDER)

JACK: (EMOTIONAL) Thank you. (CLEARING HIS THROAT) So, you think I have a chance?

BO: Well, judging from how lost Jenn's been without you, I say that you are in the running. (SMILING) Besides, I want JT to know his Uncle Jack. You could help him with his algebra or something.

JACK: (MOVED BY BO'S SUGGESTION) Well, Jennifer and I are going to give it the old college try. Maybe I'll teach young John Thomas about the newspaper biz...I'll be a real asset come term paper time.

(OUTSIDE, THEY HEAR VOICES AND SCRAMBLE TO HIDE. THEY DECIDE TO HIDE BEHIND THE LONG WINDOW CURTAINS)

(TWO MEN ENTER SPEAKING WITH THICK IRISH ACCENTS. WE DO NOT SEE THEIR FACES ONLY HEAR THEM AND SEE THEIR GESTURES)

MAN #1: So you're saying that these lads are on the loose here?

MAN #2: Unfortunately so, sir. What shall I do?

(MAN #1 SITS DOWN AND LOOKS AT A PICTURE ON HIS DESK. IT IS A DOUBLE SIDED FRAME WITH PICTURES OF BOTH STEFANO AND SHAWN BRADY. HE LOOKS OVER AND SEES A PAIR OF SHOES STICKING OUT FROM UNDER THE CURTAIN)

MAN #1: Kill them. Find them and kill them. I don't want Stefano after me.

MAN #2: What about the lasses?

MAN #1: Get rid of the brunette. Leave the blonde for me. Jennifer Rose...she always was a hot little number.

(CUT TO JACK AND BO BEHIND THE CURTAINS. BOTH ARE NERVOUS)

JACK: (VOICEOVER ONLY) Could that be? (HE PEEKS THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE CURTAIN AND GULPS) Colin Murphy? What's he doing here? And what does he know about Jennifer? I don't like this at all, not at all.

EPISODE 23

SCENE 1:

THE SCENE OPENS TO JENNIFER AND HOPE WHO HAVE JUST HEARD THAT ONE OF THE GUARDS WORKS FOR COLIN MURPHY, JENNIFER'S FRIEND FROM AFRICA.

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT THE GUARD NERVOUSLY) What do you mean? You work for Colin Murphy?

GUARD: What me said. The lad is only the nephew of Mr. DiMera.

HOPE: (MULLING THIS OVER) Only the nephew--? Oh my God, Bo...

(OUT ON JENNIFER LOOKING AT HOPE, NERVOUS ABOUT BO, JACK AND THE OTHERS)

SCENE 2:

IN THE OFFICE, JACK AND BO ARE STILL HIDING BEHIND THE CURTAINS. JACK HAS JUST FIGURED OUT THAT ONE OF THE MEN WAS DR. COLIN MURPHY, HE AND JENNIFER'S FRIEND FROM AFRICA.

COLIN: (LOOKING AT HIS COLLEAGUE WHO IS STILL STANDING THERE) What are you still doing here? You have your orders. (HE BEGINS FLIPPING THROUGH A MAGAZINE)

MAN: But sir-

COLIN: (CLOSING THE MAGAZINE ANGRILY) But what? Spit it out, man.

MAN: Your uncle...Stefano...he will not like your getting rid of soldier Black and the other man...he is Alexandra's husband.

COLIN: (RUBBING HIS CHIN) True, true. Leave those two to me.

MAN: And the others?

COLIN: (LOOKING AT THE SHOES PEEKING OUT FROM UNDER THE CURTAIN) Find them. Bring them to me. We'll deal with them then.

MAN: Will do, sir. (HE EXITS)

COLIN: (TO HIMSELF) Well, this ought to be fun. (HE PICKS UP THE MAGAZINE AND EXITS, WHISTLING).

(THE DOOR LOCKS)

SCENE 3:

(COLIN HAS JUST LEFT THE ROOM AND LOCKED JACK AND BO IN. THEY BOTH COME OUT FROM BEHIND THE CURTAINS, UNAWARE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SPOTTED OR LOCKED IN)

JACK: (DUSTING HIMSELF OFF) With all his money, you'd think he could afford a maid.

BO: (THROWING JACK A LOOK) I wonder what that was all about. JACK: (DROLL) I have a sinking feeling I might know.

BO: We've got to find the others. Jack, if you know anything, fill me in on the way. (HE RUSHES TO THE DOOR AND FINDS IT LOCKED)

JACK: (CONCERNED) Wh-what's wrong?

BO: (TURNING TO JACK) He saw us. We're locked in.

(OUT ON JACK AND BO'S CONCERNED FACES)

SCENE 4: NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF HORTON WOMEN

JACK: It can't be locked. (HE TRIES THE DOOR HIMSELF)

BO: Jack.

JACK: (PULLING THE DOOR EVEN HARDER) I think I felt it budge.

BO: Jack.

JACK: (STEPPING BACK) Here, you try. Put some of that Brady muscle in action. (SMILING NERVOUSLY) I loosened it up for you.

BO: It's no use, Jack.

JACK: What do you mean "it's no use"? It has to be of use. (TRYING THE DOOR AGAIN/BREATHING HARD) It has to.

BO: (GRABBING JACK'S SHOULDERS) Calm down, Jack. There has to be a logical way of getting out of here.

JACK: (CATCHING HIS BREATH) You're right. A logical way of getting out of here. Perhaps Jennif-oh, no. (PACING/NERVOUS) Oh no no no.

BO: (LOOKING AT JACK PACE ODDLY) What?

JACK: (STOPPING) Oh no. We told Jennifer and Hope to stay there.

BO: Exactly. (SMILING) Jack, I think you may have found the answer to our prayers.

JACK: (LOOKING AT HIM ODDLY) Exact--? I'm sorry, I don't follow.

BO: Jack, have you ever known the Horton women to ever listen?

JACK: (SMILING A LITTLE) Well...well, no.

BO: It probably goes all the way back to the Hortons of old, Jack.

JACK: (LOWLY) Like Ebenezer or Theodora.

BO: What?

JACK: (WAVING HIM OFF) Nothing, nothing, just a little joke between Jennifer and myself. (CROSSING HIS ARMS TO THINK) You were saying.

BO: I was just saying that the Hortons are a resilient breed. Stubborn, hotheaded,---

JACK: strong, proud-

BO: but underneath this gruff exterior there's a wonderful heart and a strong set of morals

JACK: (THINKING ABOUT JENNIFER) that continues to challenge and delight the most worthy of partners.

BO: (SMILING. THINKING ABOUT HOPE) Exactly. If you know Jennifer as well as I think you do, you know that she and Hope possess yet another Horton trait-they do not listen. If there's trouble-

JACK: (SMILING WIDELY) They'll find it.

BO: Precisely. In fact, I bet Jennifer and Hope will be knocking on that door before you can say...

(ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE IS A KNOCK ON THE DOOR)

HOPE'S VOICE: (SHOUTING) Bo, Jack?! Are you in there?!

(OUT ON BO AND JACK SMILING AT EACH OTHER AND LOOKING AT THE DOOR)

SCENE 5:

(HOPE AND JENNIFER HAVE FOUND JACK AND BO AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THEM OUT)

HOPE'S VOICE: (SHOUTING) Are you in there?!

BO: (WALKING TO THE DOOR. SPEAKING LOUDLY) Yes, Fancy Face, we're in here!

(CUT TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR, WHERE JENNIFER AND HOPE ARE)

JENNIFER: (CONCERNED) Bo, is Jack with you?! Is he okay?!

(CUT TO BO AND JACK)

JACK: (WALKING OVER TO THE DOOR AND TOUCHING IT WITH GREAT LOVE) Right here, Miss Horton. (BEAT) All in one piece.

BO: Are you two allright?! Have you seen the others?!

(CUT TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

HOPE: We're fine. We haven't seen John or Abe. Bo, we found out some news...

(CUT TO BO AND JACK)

BO: (LOOKING AT JACK) So did we, Fancy Face. Can you unlock the door from outside?

(CUT TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

HOPE: There's no key.

(CUT TO BO AND JACK)

BO: Damn.

(CUT TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

JENNIFER: (TO HOPE) What about the guns in the stateroom?

HOPE: (GRABBING JENNIFER'S HAND) Good idea, Jenn.

JENNIFER: (PUTTING HER HEAD CLOSE TO THE DOOR) Bo, Hope and I saw some guns back in the stateroom. I think if we can get one of them and if it's loaded, we could maybe shoot off the lock.

(CUT TO BO AND JACK)

BO: Good idea, Jenn. (HE SMILES AT JACK) How far back is the stateroom?

(CUT TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT HOPE) Two, three rooms east? (TO THE DOOR) Two, three rooms east.

BO: (NERVOUS FOR THEM) Okay, listen to me. Go together. If you run into any trouble, forget about us, run and scream as loud as you can. We'll get to you as soon as we can, okay? Stay together.

(CUT TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

JENNIFER: (NERVOUS) Okay. (SHE LOOKS WORRIEDLY AT HOPE)

HOPE: (SQUEEZING JENNIFER'S HAND AND PUTTING HER HEAD TO THE DOOR) Brady? Brady, can you hear me?

(CUT TO BO AND JACK)

BO: (LEANING AGAINST THE DOOR WITH LOVE IN HIS EYES) Loud and clear.

(TO HOPE AND JENNIFER)

HOPE: I love you, Brady. We'll be right back.

(TO BO AND JACK)

BO: I love you too, Hope.

JACK: (LOOKING AT BO AND WANTING TO SAY SOMETHING TO JENNIFER) Miss, Horton? Miss Horton, can you hear me?

(TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

JENNIFER: (EYES LIT UP) I hear you, Jack.

(TO JACK AND BO)

JACK: (OVERCOME WITH EMOTION) I just wanted to tell you that...I...I

(TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

JENNIFER: (SMILING TO HERSELF) I know, Jack...I know.

(TO JACK AND BO)

JACK: (RELIEVED THAT SHE KNOWS) Good. Now run along. Walk softly and carry a big stick.

(TO HOPE AND JENNIFER)

HOPE: (LOOKING AT JENNIFER ODDLY) Walk softly?

JENNIFER: (IGNORING HOPE/WITH GREAT LOVE) Jack, I love you, too. Don't forget that. I love you, Jack Deveraux. (THINKING ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF RUNNING INTO COLIN) Only you. (QUIETLY) Only you.

(TO JACK AND BO)

JACK: (THINKING THAT LAST PARD WAS ODD) I know. (QUIETLY) I know.

(OUT ON JACK'S FACE, OVERCOME WITH EMOTION)

SCENE 6: JENNIFER AND HOPE RETURN...SHARPSHOOTER.

(OPEN TO JENNIFER AND HOPE, WHO ARE APPROACHING THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR. BOTH ARE CARRYING ANTIQUE PISTOLS)

HOPE: Bo!? Bo, can you hear me?

(CUT TO BO AND JACK, WHO ARE DEEP IN DISCUSSION)

BO: (HEARING HOPE AND WALKING TO THE DOOR) I hear you. Did you get the guns?

JENNIFER: (V.O.) We did. Now, just get out of the way.

BO: Jenn, are you sure you want to do this? Hope might have a better shot.

(CUT TO JENNIFER AND HOPE OUTSIDE THE DOOR)

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT HOPE AND THEN THE DOOR) No, I got it. I can do this. Tell him, Jack.

(CUT TO BO AND JACK)

(BO LOOKS AT JACK QUESTIONINGLY. JACK NODS NERVOUSLY AND SMILES AND THEN PROCEEDS TO LIE ON THE FLOOR AWAY FROM THE DOOR)

BO: Okay, Jenn. I'll yell when I'm ready. (HE WALKS OVER TO WHERE JACK IS AND LAYS ON THE FLOOR ALSO) Now it may take a few shots, just be ready!

(CUT TO JENNIFER AND HOPE)

(JENNIFER STEPS BACK A FEW STEPS FROM THE DOOR AND HOPE DUCKS BEHIND THE CORNER COVERING HER EARS. JENNIFER HANDLES THE GUN NERVOUSLY AND WHEN SHE SHOOTS, SHE SCREAMS. WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS, SHE HAS SHOT OFF THE LOCK...IN ONE SHOT)

SCENE 7:

(THE SCENE OPENS ON A SHOT OF THE LOCK THAT JENNIFER HAS JUST SHOT OFF. JENNIFER SMILES AT HOPE AND HOPE LOOKS AT THE LOCK AND SMILES BACK. SHE IS IMPRESSED. THEY BOTH WALK IN)

BO: (GETTING UP AND RUSHING OVER TO HOPE) Hope! (HE KISSES HER AND THEN TURNS TO JENNIFER) Great shot, Jenn.

JENNIFER: (SMILING) Thanks. (SHE LOOKS ON THE FLOOR TO JACK, WHO IS STILL LYING THERE AND CLUTCHING HIS EARS AND SQUEEZING HIS EYES SHUT). Jack. (KNEELING DOWN TO HIM AND TOUCHING HIS BACK). Jack.

JACK: (OPENING ONE EYE AND LOOKING AT HER) Jennif--? (HE TAKES HIS HANDS OFF HIS EARS) You're here?

JENNIFER: (SMILING AT HIM AND GRABBING HIS HANDS TO HELP HIM UP) Yup. I told you I could do it.

JACK: (GETTING UP AND SMILING) I never doubted that. (HE RUNS HIS HAND THROUGH HER HAIR)

(BO AND HOPE TURN TO THEM)

BO: (SERIOUS) Jack, tell us what you know.

(OUT ON JACK LOOKING AT JENNIFER AND THEN THEM. HE NOW KNOWS THAT COLIN MURPHY IS NO GOOD)

SCENE 8: JACK FILLS THEM IN-TOO BAD IT'S NOT MUCH

JACK: That gentleman that was in here, the one so adamant about killing us, he's a man I knew from Africa.

(JENNIFER JUMPS BACK NERVOUSLY)

HOPE: That's what I was trying to say Bo, he's Stefano DiMera's nephew, Colin Murphy.

BO: (SLAMMING HIS HAND DOWN ON THE DESK) It can't be!

HOPE: (TOUCHING BO'S SHOULDER) What do you mean, "it can't be!"?

BO: (PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER) Colin Murphy is my cousin. He's a Brady.

HOPE: (SHOCKED) I never knew his na--Do you mean? Oh, my...

BO: (TO JACK) Jack, how do you know Colin?

JACK: (LOOKING AT JENNIFER, WHO HAS NOW BACKED AWAY FROM THE GROUP, AND THEN BACK TO BO AND HOPE) We were rather close in Africa. I mean, (GULPING/UPSIDE THAT COLIN WAS NOT CLOSE TO HIM BECAUSE HE WANTED TO BE) I trusted him. (BEAT) I guess hindsight is 20/20, huh? (HE GLANCES BACK AT JENNIFER ODDLY)

BO: (SHAKING HIS HEAD) I can't believe this. All this time, he was supposed to be helping us. I wouldn't be surprised if he set himself in Africa to somehow get close to you. (RUBBING HIS CHIN AND MAKING A FIST) That no-good double-crossing-

HOPE: (GENTLY GRABBING HIS FIST) Bo, don't.

BO: (LOOKING AT HOPE AND THEN TO JACK) You're right. We have to find the others and then find Colin. He should lead us right to Lexie and the baby. Jack, do you know anything about Colin? Where he might stay? Where he's from in Ireland?

JACK: (UPSET THAT HE CAN'T HELP) No. I wish I knew more, but I don't.

HOPE: (LOOKING AT JENNIFER) Maybe Jenn does.

(OUT ON JENNIFER, WHO IS UPSET THAT HOPE BROUGHT HER INTO THIS)

SCENE 9:

(HOPE HAS JUST SUGGESTED THAT JENNIFER MAYBE WILL FILL THEM IN ON COLIN. JACK, HOPE, AND BO ARE LOOKING AT HER INTENTLY)

JENNIFER: (BREAKING THE SILENCE) I'm sorry. I can't help (SHE TURNS HER BACK TO THEM)

HOPE: (SURPRISED BY JENNIFER'S ANSWER) You can't help?

JENNIFER: (TURNING AROUND/LYING EVEN THOUGH IT IS KILLING HER) You heard me, Hope. I can't help. I really know no more than Jack does.

HOPE: (WALKING OVER TO HER/LIVID) You can't help? Jenn, listen to me...

JENNIFER: (WANTING TO CRY) I'm listening, Hope. I have no information to give.

HOPE: (ANGRY) This is not about you. This is not about Jack. This is about the safety of the others and the safety of my baby...my baby. (SHE SHAKES JENNIFER) Will you just tell us what you know? Please? Please? (SHE IS CRYING)

(JACK AND BO WATCH THIS INTERACTION WITH GREAT CONCERN. JACK IS WONDERING WHY JENNIFER KNOWS SO MUCH ABOUT COLIN AND WHY SHE IS LYING TO THEM)

JENNIFER: (STARTING TO CRY AND PUTTING HER ARMS ON HOPE'S) Okay. I will. (SHE LOOKS AT JACK LOVINGLY) I will.

(OUT ON JACK PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER IN HIS HEAD)

EPISODE 24

INT. DIMERA ESTATE IRELAND

SCENE 1: HOPE, BO, AND JACK ARE FOLLOWING JENNIFER DOWN A CORRIDOR. SHE IS SPEAKING AND WALKING VERY QUICKLY. JACK KNOWS SOMETHING IS WRONG.

JENNIFER: I don't remember the actual town name, but it's on the outskirts of Dublin. He came in a few times when I was working in the pub, but then disappeared. Ian might know more. They seemed to talk to each other quite often. Colin spoke very highly of him when we were in Africa.

CLOSE UP OF JACK NARROWING HIS EYES, WONDERING WHY JENNIFER'S KNOWS SO MUCH ABOUT COLIN

BO: (OUT OF BREATH. WORRIED) What else, Jenn? Did he ever mention the Bradys? Where would he put Lexie and the baby?

JENNIFER: (STOPPING AND LOOKING BACK AT BO AND HOPE) I'm sorry. I don't know.

HOPE: (PUTTING HER ARMS ON JENNIFER'S SHOULDERS) Anything, Jenn? Come on, you followed hi--(SHE REALIZES WHAT SHE IS SAYING AND THEN STOPS). Okay, let's just find the others and try to find our baby. (SHE GRABS BO'S HAND AND THEY RUN AHEAD)

JENNIFER STARTS TO WALK AWAY BUT JACK GRABS HER SHOULDER AND SPINS HER AROUND

JACK: Oh no, Miss Horton. You're not going anywhere!

OUT ON JENNIFER'S SHOCKED EXPRESSION

SCENE 2:

IN ON JENNIFER'S SHOCKED EXPRESSION. CUT TO JACK, LOOKING DOWN AT HER CURIOUSLY.

JENNIFER: (LYING) What, Jack?

JACK: (FLUSTERED) I don't know. I-I-I guess I just want to know why you know so much about Doctor Demento here.

JENNIFER: Well...(TURNING AWAY) Jack, you know Colin and I were friends in Africa.

JACK: (FOCUSING ON HER BACK. EACH WORD STABS HIM LIKE A KNIFE.) That I do know.

JENNIFER: Well, he told me a lot of stuff. I mean, you were gone and...

JACK: (KNOWING THERE IS MORE TO IT. IT IS KILLING HIM.) And? (BEAT) Jennifer, is that the reason you-you-(COUGHING) became such good friends with him? Because I was gone?

JENNIFER: (KNOWING THAT JACK MEANS MORE THAN FRIENDS) Jack, (SHE TURNS AROUND TO LOOK AT HIM AND THEY LOCK EYES FOR A FEW MOMENTS. HE KNOWS THE TRUTH) I--

JACK: (LOOKING AS IF HIS WHOLE WORLD HAS ENDED) I-I. I think I hear your cousin calling. (HE WALKS AHEAD)

JENNIFER: (KNOWING SHE HAS JUST DEVASTATED HIM) Jack! (SHE RUNS AFTER HIM)

SCENE 3:

JACK AND JENNIFER ARE A FEW FEET BEHIND BO AND HOPE. JACK IS WALKING FASTER THAN JENNIFER AND SHE IS TRYING TO GET HIM TO LISTEN TO HER.

JENNIFER: (RUNNING FASTER TO CATCH UP) Jack. Jack. Jack! Will you just listen to me? (SHE RUNS IN FRONT OF HIM)

JACK: (STOPPING FOR A SECOND AND LOOKING AT HER. HE IS HURTING.) What?

JENNIFER: (STUDYING HIS FACE FOR A MOMENT) Jack, Colin and I-

JACK: (CLOSING HIS EYES. HE DOES NOT WANT TO HEAR THIS). Jennifer.

JENNIFER: (STARTING TO TEAR UP) Jack, you have to listen.

JACK: (OPENING HIS EYES AND LOOKING PAINFULLY AT HER) I do not have to do such a thing. I, we, have to find this baby of Hope and Bo's.

JENNIFER: (CRYING) Please--

JACK: Please what? Please listen to you stand here and tell me all about your sordid affair? Get upset? Hit something? No, no, Miss Horton, I most certainly will not. Those, my dear, are actions set aside for the lovers in the world, the husbands, the fiancés, the paramours. All of the above categories I do not fit into.

JENNIFER: Jack-

JACK: (NOT WANTING TO HURT HER, BUT HURTING HIMSELF) Have you forgotten who I am to you, Jennifer? I am your ex-your (CHOKING ON THE WORDS) ex-husband. I know I have a tendency to slip back into husband mode, but this is one of the times I will be happy to shed that role.

JENNIFER: (CRYING HARDER. TOUCHING HIS ARM SO HE COULD LISTEN) Jack, don't do this-

JACK: (PAINED. KNOCKING HER HAND AWAY AND TURNING FROM HER SO SHE CAN'T SEE HIS FACE) Don't do what? Act like I should've been acting from the start? Like your ex-husband? No, here I was trying, trying to do everything in my power to get you to look at me like you used to, trying to get you to push me, to challenge me, and all for what? To be played a fool? I should've stayed in Europe.

JENNIFER: (CLUTCHING HERSELF) No, don't say that. I'm glad you came back. (BEAT) I love you.

JACK: (TURNING TOWARDS HER SLOWLY AND LAUGHING A NERVOUS LAUGH) Loved me. You loved me, Miss Horton. Love (EMPHASIZING THE D) d. And excuse me if I have a hard time believing that-those-words, especially now. They kind of lose their weight when you use them on one's best friend, don't you think?

JENNIFER: Jack-(SHE STEPS FORWARD AS HE WALKS AWAY FROM HER) Jack, don't do this. Don't--(SHE SWINGS AROUND TO GET HIS ATTENTION)

JACK: Tempus fugit, Miss Horton. (HE TAPS HIS WATCH AND GOES TO WALK OFF AND THEN STOPS TO LOOK SADLY AT HER CRYING. HE WANTS TO HOLD HER, BUT CAN'T) Don't just stand there, Miss Horton. We've got work to do. (HE WALKS AWAY).

OUT ON JENNIFER CRYING, HOLDING HER STOMACH AND LOOKING AT THE PLACE WHERE JACK JUST WAS.

SCENE 4:

JACK AND JENNIFER HAVE CAUGHT UP WITH BO AND HOPE, WHO ARE STANDING NEAR A STONE WALL. HOPE NOTICES BOTH JACK AND JENNIFER'S EXPRESSIONS AND LOOK AT THEM WITH CONCERN.

JACK: Any luck?

BO: (TOUCHING THE WALL AND LOOKING FOR CRACKS) Hope and I heard voices on the other side of this wall. There doesn't seem to be a door, though.

JENNIFER: (LOOKING UP AT JACK WARILY AND THEN TO BO) Was it Colin that you heard, Bo?

HOPE: (THROWING JENNIFER A LOOK OF CONCERN) It sounded more like John and Abe, Jenn.

JACK: (WANTING TO BE ANYWHERE BUT THERE WITH JENNIFER) So, what are we doing here (BENDING DOWN TO LOOK AT THE WALL WITH BO)

BO: (TO JACK) I'm looking for a secret door of some sort.

ABOVE THEM, HOPE MOUTHS "DOES HE KNOW?" AND JENNIFER NODS SADLY. HOPE MOUTHS "HE'LL UNDERSTAND" JENNIFER SHAKES HER HEAD SADLY. SHE BELIEVES THAT IT IS REALLY OVER THIS TIME.

JACK: Like in the movies?

BO: (SMILING WEAKLY DESPITE HIMSELF) I guess so. (HE STANDS UP) Nothing.

JACK: (STANDING UP AS WELL) You'd think that this place would be chock full of secret passageways. You know how Stefano loves his tunnels. Now if only...(LEANS BACK ON THE WALL AND AGAINST A WALL SCONCE) Hmmm...(RUBBING HIS CHIN)

ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WALL OPENS UP REVEALING A SECRET PASSAGEWAY. BO, HOPE, AND JENNIFER LOOK AT JACK IN SHOCK.

BO: (CLAPPING JACK ON THE SHOULDER) Way to go, Deveraux. There may be some detective in you yet...(HE WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR WITH HOPE BEHIND HIM)

JACK: (SMILING WEAKLY AT BO'S COMMENT) Just an investigative reporter, that's all. (TO JENNIFER) A lucky investigative reporter.

HE AND JENNIFER LOCK EYES FOR A FEW SECONDS. SHE GOES TO SPEAK, BUT HE WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR AHEAD OF HER.

JACK: (V.O.) Are you coming, Miss Horton?

JENNIFER: (SADLY) Yeah. (SHE SIGHS AND WALKS AFTER HIM)

SCENE 5:

JENNIFER, JACK, BO AND HOPE RUSH INTO THE SECRET ROOM AND FIND JOHN AND ABE CHAINED TO THE WALL. COLIN IS ON THE GROUND AND HAS BEEN SHOT.

BO: (OVERWHELMED BY THE SIGHT) What the hell?!

JENNIFER: (SEEING COLIN) Colin!!!

JACK FLINCHES AT JENNIFER'S MENTION OF HIS NAME.

JOHN: One of his men shot him. Said he was a trader.

ABE: He came in here and was about to tell us where Lexie and the baby were.

BO REACHES DOWN AND PICKS UP SOME WEAPONS OFF THE FLOOR.

JENNIFER: Is he--? (SHE LOOKS AT JOHN)

JOHN: I don't know. (TO JACK) Deveraux, why don't you make yourself useful and unchain us?

JACK: (BREAKING HIS GAZE FROM JENNIFER) Yeah. (BEAT) Where's the key?

ABE: It's in his hand (NODDING TO COLIN).

JACK: Right. (GULPING) In his hand. (HE CROUCHES DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND OPENS COLIN'S HAND SLOWLY. HE GRABS THE KEY AND IS ABOUT TO STAND UP WHEN COLIN GRABS HIS WRIST.)

OUT ON JACK'S SHOCKED FACE.

SCENE 6:

IN ON COLIN'S HAND GRIPPING JACK'S WRIST. JACK LOOKS UP AT EVERYONE NERVOUSLY. HOPE PUTS HER ARM AROUND JENNIFER.

COLIN: Jack?

JACK: (SMILING SLYLY) In the flesh.

COLIN: I didn't mean to hurt you, Jack.

JACK: (SMILING STILL THROUGH GRITTED TEETH) You could've fooled me. Now if you'd kindly lighten your kung-fu grip. (WHEN HE DOESN'T LET UP) Bo?

BO: (KNEELING DOWN NEXT TO COLIN AND PRYING HIS HAND OFF OF JACK'S) Just get your dirty hands off of him, will ya?

COLIN: (FIGURING OUT WHO BO IS) Bo Brady? You're me cousin.

BO: In name only (SEARCHING COLIN'S POCKETS). Now are you going to tell us where this baby is?

COLIN: Why that's what I came in here to tell ya. (HE GROANS AND COUGHS A LITTLE)

JACK: (RUBBING HIS WRIST AND SHOOTING A LOOK TO JENNIFER) Like we're supposed to believe that one.

COLIN: Jack, why would I lie to ya?

JACK: Oh, I don't know. Let's just call it reporter's intuition (HE LOOKS STRAIGHT AT JENNIFER). The funny thing is, I believed you...(WALKS OVER AND PROCEDES TO UNLOCK ABE AND JOHN). All those times in Afr-

COLIN: Jack, I told you I'd take care of them.

JACK: A little too much care. Perhaps I should have had you ration the TLC. Then-

JOHN: (RUBBING HIS WRISTS) Let him talk, Jack.

BO: (LOOKING ANGRILY AT COLIN) Jack's right, John. Why should we trust him?

COLIN: Because you have nothing to lose.

OUT ON THE GROUP LOOKING WARILY AT ONE ANOTHER.

SCENE 7:

JOHN: He's right. He might be of use.

BO: I don't know. I never trust a DiMera.

COLIN: I'm half Brady, Bo. I did all this to help you.

JACK: Yes, that's what help is in Ireland. Didn't you know, Bo? Steal your family, make veiled death threats.

ABE: (RUBBING HIS WRISTS AND LOOKING AT JACK DISAPPROVINGLY) Jack. (TO BO) He may be telling the truth, Bo.

JACK TURNS TO ABE AND MOUTHS "SORRY" AND PULLS A FACE

BO: (LOOKING ANGRILY AT COLIN) And he may not be. (HE LOOKS AT HOPE WHO LOOKS AT HIM PLEADINGLY) Okay, Colin Murphy, like it or not, you're going to prove that your on our side and take us to Lexie and the baby. I'm warning you though, one step in the wrong direction...(HE SHOVES A GUN INTO COLIN'S RIBS).

COLIN: Understood. (BEAT) Would you lads be kind enough to help me up?

ABE AND JOHN HELP BO LIFT COLIN TO HIS FEET. ONCE THERE, COLIN SEES JENNIFER.

COLIN: (SURPRISED) Jennifer Rose?

OUT ON JENNIFER LOOKING NERVOUSLY AT COLIN.

SCENE 8:

IN ON JENNIFER LOOKING NERVOUSLY ON COLIN. JACK IS WATCHING THIS ENCOUNTER IN GREAT EMOTIONAL PAIN.

COLIN: Well, don't just stand there, come and give this old boy a hug.

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AROUND NERVOUSLY) Um...hi Colin (SHE WAVES A LITTLE)

COLIN: (TAPPING HIS SHOULDER) Come on. After all we've been through.

JACK CRINGES AT THIS MENTION. JENNIFER TAKES A TENTATIVE STEP TOWARDS COLIN ALL THE WHILE LOOKING AT JACK. JACK LOOKS AT HIS FEET.

COLIN: (PULLING JENNIFER INTO HIS ARMS AND HUGGING HER) You look fantastic. (HE KISSES HER FOREHEAD AND PULLS HER CLOSER) Just like I remembered.

HOPE PLACES HER HAND ON JACK'S ARM. HE PRETENDS LIKE THIS JENNIFER AND COLIN BIT DOESN'T BOTHER HIM.

JENNIFER: (BREAKING THE EMBRACE) Colin-I-

COLIN: (PLACING A FINGER TO HER MOUTH TO KEEP HER QUIET) Shhh. We'll get to that later. How's the wee girl?

JENNIFER: Abby's fi-

JACK: (INTERRUPTING JENNIFER) Abigail's fine, Colin. (BEAT. LOOKING AT JENNIFER WITH INTENSITY) Our daughter's fine.

COLIN: (LOOKING OVER TO JACK AND THEN TO JENNIFER) That's good. Now we must be going. We've got another (LOOKING AT BO AND HOPE) wee one to find.

JOHN: Wait a minute there, buddy. Let me take a look at this wound here (HE BENDS DOWN TO CHECK COLIN'S GUNSHOT IN HIS SIDE) Well, someone should hire you some new henchmen-none of them are a good shot. (TO BO) It's just a flesh wound. (TO COLIN) I'm just going to tie this up and we'll be on our way. (HE PROCEDES TO DRESS THE WOUND WITH A PIECE OF FABRIC FROM HIS SHIRT) You're very lucky.

JACK: (UNDER HIS BREATH. LOUDLY) Yeah.

COLIN FLASHES HIM A LOOK. JENNIFER WALKS OVER TO JACK AND PLACES HER HAND ON HIS. HE SNATCHES HIS AWAY AND STANDS THERE. OUT ON JACK LOOKING DOWN AT JENNIFER INTENSELY.

SCENE 9:

THE GROUP IS STILL IN THE "SECRET" ROOM. COLIN'S WOUND HAS BEEN DRESSED AND THEY ARE NOW DECIDING WHAT TO DO.

BO: I'm just saying that there's no need for all of us to go. Some of us should go for help. (TO HOPE) Fancy Face--

HOPE: No Brady, I want to be there when you find my-our-son (SHE FLASHES A QUICK LOOK TO JOHN).

BO: Alright, alright. Abe?

ABE: No chance, Bo. Stefano DiMera's the one who broke up my family. I want to be there when he goes down. I want my wife back (SADLY) if that's possible.

JOHN: Count me out. I'm with Abe. If DiMera's going down, I'm going to be there.

BO: (TO JENNIFER AND JACK, WHO IS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE THOUGHT OF BEING ALONE WITH JENNIFER) Jack? Jenn? Colin's with us, so you'll have to go it alone. Can you handle that?

JENNIFER: (ANSWERING FOR JACK) We can handle that, Bo. What do you want us to do? Call the ISA?

BO: Yeah, call Shane. Tell him where we are and tell him what went down. Ask him to send in some men to surround the place and to infiltrate it. Here, take this (HE HANDS HER A GUN). Jack?

JACK: (STILL NOT KEEN ABOUT BEING WITH JENNIFER) Yes?

BO: Here, take this (HE WAVES THE GUN TO HIM)

JACK: Yeah, right. I'm sorry. Call Shane, call the ISA.

BO: (CONCERNED) Are you alright, Jack?

JACK: (LYING) Fine. High as a kite. Light as a feather. Now go on and find that baby.

BO: Are you sure you're okay?

JACK: (LOOKING AT JENNIFER. SARCASTICALLY.) Never been better.

BO: Okay then. Good luck.

THEY ALL SAY THEIR GOODBYES AND EXIT, LEAVING JACK AND JENNIFER ALONE. JENNIFER LOOKS AT JACK AND HE LOOKS AWAY. A FEW SECONDS OF UNCOMFORTABLE SILENCE ENSUE.

JENNIFER: Jack, will you listen to me? It was nothing.

JACK: Jennifer, you don't have to tell me anything. We've already established that your honesty with me is not needed once the marriage has been dissolved.

JENNIFER: (WALKING OVER TO HIM AND GRABBING HIS ARM TO PULL HIM TO LOOK AT HER BUT HE WON'T BUDGE) Jack. Jack, look at me. It wasn't what you think. It was nothing.

JACK: (FINALLY LOOKING AT HER. SEETHING) You left me. You took my daughter thousands of miles away for "nothing"? For "nothing"?

OUT ON JENNIFER'S FACE. SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY.

EPISODE 25

SCENE 1: IN PROGRESS

JACK: (SEETHING) So, you're going to stand there and tell me that you broke up our family for nothing? Jennifer, I--

JENNIFER: (EYES WIDE AT JACK'S ANGER) Jack, it wasn't like that.

JACK: (BREAKING HIS GAZE) Then what was it, Jennifer? Nothing? Something? (MEETING HER EYES) What was it?

A FEW SECONDS OF UNCOMFORTABLE SILENCE.

JENNIFER: I don't. (BREAKING THE INTENSE GAZE) I don't know. (SHE TURNS AWAY)

OUT ON JACK LOOKING AT JENNIFER WITH A MIXTURE OF ANGER AND SADNESS IN HIS EYES

SCENE 2: IN PROGRESS

IN ON JACK STARING AT JENNIFER'S BACK. JENNIFER BEGINNING TO CRY.

JACK: (DRYLY BUT SADLY) Come on, Miss H., you can do better than that. You do have a penchant for words, as I recall. What was it? Were the hot steamy nights too much for you? Do you have him over for lemonade once or twice in the middle of the night? Perhaps...

JENNIFER: (TURNING AROUND QUICKLY) Stop it! Just stop it!

JACK: (TAKEN BACK BY JENNIFER'S OUTBURST) It seems I've touched a nerve.

JENNIFER: (CALMLY) Jack, don't do this. Don't make a big deal out of something that meant nothing to either of us.

JACK: It meant enough to you to follow him to Ireland. It meant enough to you to take our daughter with you.

JENNIFER: (SADLY) I was lonely, Jack.

JACK: Do you think that I wasn't? Do you think I liked being out there by myself? Do you think I liked having to keep things from you? Do you think I liked being out there all that time with your fat-(CORRECTING HIMSELF)-with your face haunting me all the time?

JENNIFER: (CATCHING WHAT HE SAID) My face? Jack, were you out there helping my father? Is that why you were gone?

JACK: (CHANGING THE SUBJECT) No, no, no...Now if we'd get back to the subject at hand...you and your (SHUDDERS) tryst with (PULLING A FACE) Dr. Doolittle there...

JENNIFER: Don't cheapen it, Jack. It was not a tryst. You make it sound like we met for cheap beer and hot sweaty sex at-

JACK: (SARCASTICALLY) at a no-tell motel. Please, Miss Horton, spare me the smarmy details of your rendezvous. (HE TURNS AWAY)

JENNIFER: (ANGRY AND SAD) You aren't going to listen to me, are you? You'd rather go on thinking what you want to think, don't you?

JACK: (TURNING TOWARDS HER) It doesn't matter what I think. The fact of the matter is, you, you obviously saw something in him that you liked, something I wasn't giving you, and you leapt at the chance...

JENNIFER: Jack, I thought you were gone...that you weren't coming back.

JACK: (FULL OF EMOTION) What?

JENNIFER: It's not as if it hasn't happened before. I told you I thought you were off with another woman. What was I supposed to think?

JACK: You weren't supposed to think. You were supposed to trust.

JENNIFER: Jack, I trust you, I really do.

JACK: But you didn't. The fact of the matter is you didn't. Well, I just hope you and Dr. Kildare will do better than we did in the romance department (HE WALKS OFF).

OUT ON JENNIFER SHIVERING AND RUNNING AFTER HIM

SCENE 3:

IN ON JACK AND JENNIFER WALKING QUICKLY DOWN A DARK STAIRWELL. JENNIFER IS WATCHING HIM, WANTING HIM TO SPEAK TO HER. JACK FEELS HER WATCHING HIM.

JACK: (TURNING AROUND) Will you quit that already?

JENNIFER: (PLAYING DUMB) Quit what, Jack?

JACK: Quit staring at me, that's what. You're making me feel as if I'm some freak of nature-the bearded woman at the circus, the Elephant Man...

JENNIFER: I'm sorry. I just want you to say something.

JACK: (SMILING SLYLY) This from the woman who tells me to shut up constantly.

JENNIFER: Jack, that's because it's usually about nothing. This time is about something.

JACK: There you go again-nothing, something. Geez, sometimes it's like (IMITATING JACKIE GLEASON FROM THE HONEYMOONERS) "bang, zoom, to the moon!"

JENNIFER: (SMILING DESPITE HERSELF) Jack.

JACK: (FROWNING) Jennifer, I just don't feel like talking about it, that's all.

JENNIFER: Fine. I'll give you that. But Jack, you're going to have to listen to me sooner or later.

JACK: The later the better. Now let's get back to getting out of this place.

THEY MOVE A FEW STEPS UNTIL THEY HEAR A DOOR OPENING AND VOICES. OUT ON JACK AND JENNIFER STARING AT EACH OTHER.

SCENE 4: IN PROGRESS.

IN ON JACK AND JENNIFER STARING AT EACH OTHER.

JACK: (WHISPERING) What was that?

JENNIFER: (WHISPERING) "Danger, Will Robinson." (NOTING JACK'S STARE) What?

JACK: (COCKING HIS EYEBROW) Other than the fact that that's my line? Nothing.

THE VOICES GROW CLOSER

JACK: Allright, Miss H. What do you say we play a rousing game of hide and go seek? (RUBBING HIS CHIN) Let's see, who goes first? I'd say us. Let's go. (HE GRABS HER HAND AND THEY RUN UP THE STAIR AND INTO THE CLOSEST DOOR)

ONCE INSIDE THE DOOR, JACK AND JENNIFER LEAN AGAINST IT AND EACH BREATHE A SIGH OF RELIEF.

JENNIFER: (LOOKING AT JACK. BETWEEN BREATHS) That was close.

JACK: (CATCHING HIS BREATH) You're telling me.

JENNIFER: Now what?

JACK: Now what? What is finding the quickest route out of here and back to Salem.

JENNIFER: And how do you propose we do that, Jack?

JACK: (SMILING NERVOUSLY) That, my dear, is something we've got to figure out. Now, if you'd give me a minute (HE STARTS TO PACE, RUBBING HIS CHIN)

JENNIFER: (NOTING THE OPEN WINDOW) Jack.

JACK: (CONTINUING TO PACE) Now, now, I'm sure that if we put our minds together, we can...

JENNIFER: (HER VOICE GROWS LOUDER) Jack.

JACK: (PACING) It has to be quick and easy...something that we've done before preferably.

JENNIFER: Jack.

JACK: (PACING STILL) Something...something...(HE FINALLY HEARS HER AND TURNS AROUND TO LOOK AT HER. DRYLY.) What?

JENNIFER: (SMILING) The window, Jack.

JACK: The window? (FINALLY SEEING THE OPEN WINDOW) Hehe, look at that. If it had teeth, it would've-

JENNIFER: (FINISHING HIS SENTENCE) it would've bit you. Come on, Jack. (SHE GOES OVER TO THE WINDOW AND PROCEEDS TO CRAWL OUT. WHEN HE DOESN'T FOLLOW, SHE STOPS) Jack, what are you waiting for?

JACK: (NERVOUSLY) Well, I...well, I...I was thinking there has to be another way.

JENNIFER: (GETTING UP AND WALKING OVER TO HIM) Jack, there is no other way. Come on, we've got to hurry.

JACK: (SWALLOWING HARD) Jennifer, I...I think that, that, that window is a terrible idea.

JENNIFER: (EYES WIDE) A terrible idea? A terrible idea? Do you have a better suggestion, Jack? (OUTSIDE THEY HEAR VOICES) Hey, I know, why don't we ask them? (SHE TURNS AND WALKS TO THE DOOR) hey guys-(ALL OF A SUDDEN JACK CLAMPS HIS HAND OVER HER MOUTH. BENEATH IT, SHE SMILES)

JACK: (QUIETLY. CLOSE TO HER EAR) Okay, I'll go. No bragging, no gloating, and no smirking (ENJOYING BEING THIS CLOSE, HE SMELLS HER HAIR)

JENNIFER NODS. JACK REMOVES HIS HAND FROM HER MOUTH.

JENNIFER: I-

JACK: (PUTTING HIS HAND UP TO STOP HER) No no no-you agreed.

JENNIFER: (SMILING AND GRABBING HIS HAND) Come on, Jack.

OUT ON JACK AND JENNIFER HEADING TO THE WINDOW.

SCENE 4:

JACK AND JENNIFER ARE OUT ON THE LEDGE AND ARE INCHING AWAY FROM THE WINDOW. JACK REFUSES TO LOOK DOWN. INSIDE, TWO MEN AND A WOMAN CARRYING A CHILD ENTER.

JENNIFER: (WHISPERING) Jack, is that-

JACK: (WHISPERING) Is that what?

JENNIFER: It can't be. Hold on (SHE ATTEMPTS TO CLIMB AROUND HIM)

JACK: (EYES WIDE) Jennif-what do you think you're doing?

JENNIFER: (BODY UP AGAINST JACK'S) I'm trying to see who that is.

JACK: Well, could you maybe find another way. This is hard as it is. You don't need to making this any harder (CATCHING HIMSELF) more difficult.

JENNIFER: (COCKING AN EYEBROW AT HIM AND THEN MOVING PAST HIM TO LOOK IN THE WINDOW) Jack, it's Lexie and the baby.

JACK: (CLOSING HIS EYES TO GET SOME STRENGTH AND THEN LEANING IN OVER HER TO LOOK IN) Well, I'll be...what's she doing here? I thought Dr. Quinn, Medicine Man was taking the others to her.

JENNIFER: Jack, you don't think-

JACK: You bet your little blonde head I do.

JENNIFER: Jack, we've gotta get the baby.

JACK: (NODDING TOWARDS THE GUARDS) Not with those goons there. What is she saying anyway?

JENNIFER: (TRYING TO LISTEN) Something about her father. (TURNING TO JACK) Stefano-do you think Stefano's here?

JACK: I don't know. My guess would be no. Anything else?

JENNIFER: (TRYING TO LISTEN) No. She's leaving.

JACK: Did you catch any of it?

JENNIFER: No, something about Colin, I think. (TO JACK) Jack, should we follow them?

JACK: No. Too dangerous. Our best bet is getting out of here and calling Shane, like Bo said. Now scoot down. (GESTURING FOR HER TO MOVE)

JENNIFER: Scoot down? Jack, you're right. It's too dangerous.

JACK: (SMILING) I'm right. I'm right?

JENNIFER: Yes, we can't go back in there. They're probably looking for us.

JACK: One never knows until he tries. After you...(GESTURING AGAIN)

JENNIFER: Jack, we're going to have to jump.

JACK: Jump? I think not. Why it's (LOOKING DOWN AND GETTING SCARED) at least four stories up. I don't know about you, but I'm taking the stairs. Now if you'll please (GESTURING AGAIN)...

JENNIFER: No.

JACK: (SMILING. TRYING TO GET PAST HER) Yes.

JENNIFER: No.

JACK: (EMPHATICALLY) Yes.

JENNIFER: No. Jack, will you listen to me? We can't go back in.

JACK: We most certainly can. (HE TRIES TO SCOOT PAST HER AGAIN)

JENNIFER: Jack--

THEY CONTINUE TO ARGUE TO THEMSELVES UNTIL JACK LOSES HIS BALANCE AND SCREAMS "WHOA. WHOA." JENNIFER SCREAMS "JACK" AND GRABS HIM. THEY BOTH FALL OF THE LEDGE TOGETHER.
