Martina McBride's Patriotic New Album Cover
LAUNCH Yahoo!, September 14, 2001
The cover photo of Martina McBride's Greatest Hits album, which hits stores Tuesday (September 18), features McBride in a black tank top graced with an American flag. The cover of the album was shot and planned weeks ago, but now seems fitting to a nation of Americans taking a strong pride in their country, following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C.
McBride talked with LAUNCH about the well-timed album packaging. "When I saw the package with the stars and the way it does look very patriotic, it made me feel proud. I don't know how to explain it because it wasn't something that I set out to do necessarily, consciously... But I mean, I'm talking about even before the events that happened last week, when I saw the package three weeks ago or four weeks ago or whatever," she said. "It just kind of made me feel, I don't know...a sense of pride; and obviously now, like everything else, it takes on a whole new meaning."
The new album features McBride's latest single, "When God Fearin' Women Get The Blues," which sits at Number 11 this week on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
