Recent visits

(Sept. 2006)This was the reunion of the entire Costales family - Eric and family, Carlo and Arnold with their girlfriends. We met at Buffalo and booked 2 nights at a motel. Arnold and his girlfriend had no visas to Canada yet, so we visited Niagara Falls, New York side. Just as well, as we haven't yet done this before, and we usually saw the Canada side of it.

(2005)The year before that (2005), while still on Canadian vacation, Sal, Orly and Deb, drove from US and we had a short reunion, while they stayed at Maning's house. We also visited Niagara, and these are some of our pictures.

Previous tours

The first time I saw Niagara Falls was in January, 1996 - at the coldest of winter season. It was the time I brought Kyra, my 1st granddaughter, to Canada to live with her parents. Instead of leaves on trees, icicles hung on branches all covered with snow. The waters of the falls were just massive chunks of ice suspended in air. Beautiful sight to remember - a winter wonderland indeed, even if I felt frozen to my very fingers and toes. Disregarding the cold, Kyra kicked snow in glee.

The next year, I visited Toronto again, this time with Arnold, my youngest son. Spring was just about to end. Again, we went to Niagara Falls. The air was already cold, but bearable. The rapids was now quite very alive. So was the thundering sound and the majestic vibrations one always feels when beholding a very awesome Nature scene.

In May 1998, my husband accompanied me. Summer was not yet quite over, and spring was just around the corner. It was the best time to be in this country, I think- weather was not hot nor too cold. I visited Niagara Falls again, this time with my husband and my brothers' family - kids and in-laws.

I traveled again the next 2 years (1999, 2000), each time just by myself. These were around the months of Nov.-Dec, Oct.-Nov. I think I went for a short look at the Falls only once this time - with my son and his family. This was in the afternoon and just before night fell. It was winter season already, but the Falls was just as beautiful with all the lights and sounds of the X'mas season highlighting its magic all over again.

It was during my 2000 travel (Sept. 17 - Oct. 20) that we (Eric & family) drove to Fort Walton Beach, Florida to spend almost a week at Sal's condo. After that I flew alone to Seattle to visit Tonying (Antonina Vergel de Dios, a former co-employee at PNB), AND joined a Mt.Rainier tour. I stayed alone at an airport motel.

Whatever the season, Niagara Falls is a sight you won't want to miss. Canada IS Niagara Falls.
