Dolphins!
Dolphins
were playing in a little bay on a creek today. Slowing the boat
down to bare steerage way caught their attention.
As you can see they wondered what this curious person was doing in
their playground

A different dolphin showed his/her dorsal fin in the two photos.
I've read that the dorsal fins are a good way to distinguish
individuals.
If I get any better photos along the way, I'll be sure to post them.
Meanwhile... back in Savannah

A Liquid Natural Gas Carrier dwarfs its 40 or 50 foot long towboat.
And... for the first time anywhere. Big ship floats on grass past
Eiffel tower!

Ok, ok, it gets a little boring all alone on the boat sometimes.

That orange lifeboat appears to be one of the latest models. It
can turn completely over, right itself and keep on floating.
Not too sure I'd like to be inside when it turns turtle. Wonder
if there are seatbelts?
After Savannah, my next stop was Isle of Hope Marina, where I had
stopped on my way north in 1996. What a change! The old
wooden docks have been replaced with new floating concrete units with
all of the latest in electric and water hookups. The good thing
is that the marina is still operating. In 1996, the talk on the
docks was all about a developer offering large sums of money to buy the
marina and build high rise condos, thus destroying the beautiful area.
Everyone collectively breathed a sigh of relief when that proposal
failed.

The graveyard from "Midnight and the Garden of Good and Evil" appears on the ICW as one rounds a bend...

My next stop was quite a change from Isle of Hope. Kilkenny
Creek Marina is a friendly little place that caters mostly to local
fishermen. Here's how they place boats in the water. This lift
picks the boat up off the trailer and lowers it sometimes as much as
10 or 12 feet into the water far below.

It's just a basic dock, but all that's needed by those who frequent
it. Glisse was perfectly contented here as was I.
