Summary: While on a blind date with Neil, a really creepy guy, Will is relieved to get a call from Grace. She tells him that she's at the hospital and that Stan just had a heartattack. At first, Will thinks this is just part of the planned 'escape call' he'd set up with Grace until she proves to him that she's really at the hospital and that Stan really did have a heartattack. Will leaves immediately.
At the hospital, Will meets up with Grace and Rosario. Rosario blames Grace for Stan's heart attack, as she had him move a heavy object before the attack. Grace claims she's innocent, but Rosario continues by mocking Grace's obvious dislike of needles.
Seconds later, Jack runs in. A moment after, Karen exits the hospital room, downs Stan's pills, then walks shakily back inside. Jack sees this and tells everyone that they can leave, because it's obvious that Karen, when she has her emotional breakdown, will turn to her 'poodle' for support. This causes outrage with Rosario and Will. Rosario thinks that she, as Karen's faithful maid will be the one Karen turns to, while Will believes that he, as Karen's lawyer, will be the one Karen leans on. Finally, they decide to make a bet. The winner will be the one Karen cries to first.
Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Karen learns from the doctor that Stan will be fine, but also learns of her friends' little bet and decides to get even with them.
Karen starts with Grace, who immediately enters the bet. She later finds out that Karen needs Grace to donate blood and Grace reluctantly agrees.
Next Karen turns to Rosario, claiming she can't break down in the filthy hospital and asks her to clean it. Rosario reluctantly agrees.
Meanwhile, Grace's blood giving isn't going very well. With help from the doctor, Karen gets a young premedish student to give Grace the needle, causing Grace to panic even more. But just as she tries to bail out, Karen meets her at the door, thanking Grace.
The third person on Karen's list is her 'poodle', Jack. She pretends to be heartbroken and as Jack comforts her, she admits that, if Stan dies, they may have to give up some of their luxeries. Jack tries to be okay with this, but can't help wonder what she means. He later learns that she wants him to cut up his credit cards.
As Jack does this, Karen lastly turns to Will and somehow gets him to spend time with Neil, who has shown up at the hospital.
Finally, with Grace bandaged up, Rosario lugging around a floor waxer, Jack mourning the loss of his credit cards, and Will threatening to bury the creep, Karen calls them all in and tells them the truth. She then makes it clear to them that she doesn't do emotions and they all head guiltily back to the elevator. All except Jack, who steals the bet money at the last minute.
As Karen gathers up her things, the doctor comes in with some of Stan's things and soon after, Karen starts to cry. Grace enters, then quickly tries to leave. Karen insists she stay and turns to Grace in need. Grace helps Karen through the pain and Karen cheers up and sends Grace out with fashion tips.
Did You Notice...
~We never find out how exactly Karen got Will to hang around with his date.
---Viewer Karen R. offers this theroy: Maybe the reason Karen got Will to hang out with Neil was that she scared him by saying she would need someone to live with her or "satisfiy her" if he died and Jack was to gay and said no already so he was forced to say he was seeing someone and had to hang around Neil! Just a thought.
~Jack says "Someday, I hope to have a hag of my very own.". Many people have pointed out that Jack already has a hag: Karen.
