Book 3: A Plague of Angels

Issue 1: Guns, Lies, and Armageddon - Smugglers await a pick-up as the Angels gear up for a fight. The merchandise gets loaded when the Angels show. A big fight ensues. Most of the smugglers get nailed, but a few get away with the item. Kei manages to get the intact head of her cybernetic opponent. High Sense magazine contacts ghost writer Cory Emerson about having a piece in her own name. The catch - it's a piece on the Dirty Pair. She takes it.

Issue 2: Random Access Memories - One of the smugglers transfers himself via microsoftware plug into a little girl. Cory arrives at the Kalevala O'Neill space station. She's imagining the worst when she meets Kei and Yuri. The two show up conservatively dressed. Cory accompanies them to the Kalevala Security HQ for a talk about the mission the night before. Kei and the security chief get into a rather loud cussing match. They learn the smugglers are artificial personalities encoded onto microsoftware plugs. Security managed to get a time for a rendezvous for the smugglers from the head Kei brought in. The Angels invite Cory to join them. They head back to their apartment where Cory meets Mughi. Kei complains the landlord won't let her put in a shooting range. Cory learns a little about the Angels, including a bit part they did for a kung-fu movie. They go out for drinks, and Kei and Yuri get drunk. They tell Cory that the only reason the 3WA was interested in them at the beginning is due to a fake "psychic" act they pulled on a parapsychology institute; Cory is thinking of the headlines - Because of "Psychic Hoax"... MILLIONS HAVE DIED SCREAMING. She goes to the bathroom to calm down, then comes back to find them singing some old Alice Cooper song onstage. The smugglers check out the item.

Issue 3: Opening Shots - Cory's dreaming of the Angels when they wake her early the next morning. The worst thing about the Angels... they're morning people. They offer to let her wear one of the uniforms to the stake-out. She politely declines. The stake-out is a complete bust. The smuggler uses the little girl to get into Kalevala Security where he takes over Gina, one of the higher-ups. He can get the security lock code for the item using her. Cory notices Gina's unusual behavior and the chase is on. The Angels get to the smugglers base as they frantically try to arm the robot. The Angels kick some butt and the smugglers are stopped before the robot is completely prepped. It takes a minor hit from a EMP gun that scrambles its circuits. Kei accidentally activates it.

Issue 4: Hair Trigger - The semi-lobotomized robot is a complete degenerate. It gets away, looking for babes. It's bomb is set for timed detonation - in 60 minutes, it'll go off. Kalevala Security goes on full alert as the station is put under martial law. Field Marshal Connolly is brought online to take command of the forces. The Angels finally hear what they are up against. The good news is that the robot only has a small bomb. The bad news is that it's large enough to destroy much of the station. They know that the robot was partially fried and is running on "reptile brain." They will look in the sleazy part of the station for it. The Angels go out as "bait." The area they search is about sleaze level four or five. Cory is feeling pretty negative since her files were all confiscated. Yuri finally gets tired of her attitude and they get in an argument. Kei locates the robot in a strip joint. They rush in to get it, but the establishments security system attacks them and the robot gets away as the Kalevala forces shell the place. The robot uses it holographic camouflage to make itself look like Yuri. The real Yuri is attacked by Kalevala forces. Yuri catches the robot when more Kalevala forces arrive and attack.

Issue 5: -- 30 -- - Kei rushes to help Yuri as the Kalevala forces attack each other. The robot changes again to look like Kei. Yuri discards her power suit, keeping only the parachute. Yuri attacks Kei thinking she's the robot. Yuri gets in a good kick before realizing it's the real Kei. Cory gets rescued by Field Marshal Connolly. The robot drops its disguise as Yuri finally gets a shot-up mecha flying. She and Kei go after the robot. They use Yuri's chute hoping to let the robot go splat, but it's holding onto Kei. The Kalevala forces think about shooting all three for a moment, but Yuri kicks the robot loose. All three fall onto the Field Marshal's ship where the robot is blasted to little pieces. Unfortunately, the robot managed to transfer the microsoftware plug to Kei while they were struggling. Kei shoots the Field Marshal. Kei and Yuri fight on the ship before Cory finally uses an EMP gun to fry the microsoftware plug. The three use Yuri's chute to escape the plummeting ship which crashes into the command control. The three land on a missile carrier. Kei finally recovers enough to tell them that the bomb was missing from the robot. From where they are, they get a good view of the blast.
