Thomas Leonard SMITH

BIOGRAPHY: Marine: was a sergeant and honorably discharged from the Marine Aviation Separation Unit One, MCAB, Cherry point NC on 3, Nov. 1945 and paid $100.00 Mustering Out pay.  When enlisted he was 67 1/2 inches high with Blue Eyes, and Auburn hair.  Had a Ruddy complexion.
  His Special military qualifications were : Mechanic, Turret, Gunner, SSN560E.
 His rank and type of warrant at time of discharge was Sergant, Aviation, Temporary.
When he enlisted in to the Marine Reserves he lived at Box 141 New Kensington, PA and he went to the to enlist DHS Pittsburgh PA on the 1st day of September 1942.  
  His services (sea and Foreign) Southwest pacific area from 27 Dec. 1944 to 31 Dec. 1945.  He was not wounded.  The battles, engagements, skirmishes, expeditions he participated in were:  Treasury-Bougainville Operations; Bismarck Archipelago Operations; Consolidation of Northern Solomons.
Remarks Authority for dicharge: Article 3-15 Marine Corps Manual. Issued Certificate of Satisfactory Service; issued 2 patches, Khaki, honorable Service; issued 2 patches, green, honorable service; issued USMC honorable discharge button.  
His serial number 445754
One other thing noted on the discharge papers was his signature, thumb print and that he was paid a monthly rate of pay when discharged of $81.90 and he was also paid 5 cents for every mile from Cherry Point, NC to Pittsburgh, PA which was $176.49.
He did not have any weapons qualifications. He did not have any wounds received in service.

BIOGRAPHY:   He also had his own signing business.  He painted like billboard signs in the Pittsburgh Area.  (obtained by family word)

  According to a copy of his obituary he was active in veterans activities, he was a life member of marine Corps League, New Ken detachment, American legion Post 868 and Veterans of Foreign Wars post 92 both in lower Burrell; he was also active in South New kensington Fire department, good time league of American bowling congress; social member of the faternal order of police and belonged to western Pennsylvania firemens association.  He also was a member of the United Presbterian Church. Nancy Jayne SNYDER

DEATH: She lived at 1802 Freeport Rd. Arnold when she died.  She was a waitress at several area restaurants, she was a clerk at Fashion Hosiery Co. in New Kensington.  She was a member of the Unites Presbyterian Church of New Ken; American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Lower Burrell; VFW women's auxiliary, Tarentum; Women of the Moose, Vandergrift; Marine Corps League, Pittsburgh; Women's Auxiliary of Kinloch Firemen, South New Kensington, and western Pennsylvania Firemen's association auxiliary.  All obtained by copy of her obituary.

BIOGRAPHY: She was a cheerleader.


Baby Boy SMITH

DEATH: Still born

DEATH: Died from Prostate Cancer  occording to family

BIRTH: Born in Blantyre Scottland and came to America around 1904


Kathryn BOHLANDER

DEATH: Ceberal hemorrhage due to hypartension she had for 8 to 10 years (also known as a brain anurism)  Obtained from death certificate


Walter SMITH

DEATH: at age 13 from a rheumatic heart  obtained from family word


William SMITH

DEATH: Died a few days after birth. Dr. Cut his embilical cord too short, he bled to death.


James Robert NESBIT

BIOGRAPHY: Military Service In the Navy from January 4, 1956 until January 3, 1962. He had a honorable Discharge.  His rank was AR. His serial number was 4738686.
He worked in the Steel Mill.  He loved to play card games.

DEATH: Due to a heart attack.


Nellie Jean CALBERT

BIOGRAPHY: She was a Janitor.  (This is to be filled out by her soon.)
