WHAT HER CO-STARS SAY...
ANNE HECHE
"I  just   jumped  up  and  down  when I heard  she
was  in it.  She's  so excellent.  She has a very rare
quality    that   actresses   are,   for    some   reason,
without these days."

Film Information: IMDB
Marion's  sister,  Lila  Crane.   Lila   (who  is supposed  to be a lesbian here)  is trying to find   her  sister  with   the  help  of  Marion's boyfriend     and    a   private    investigator's. Eventually,  she  will  be the one  to discover the truth about Bates.
"Although  she's  really  forceful and  she's  kind  of
driving  the  action,  saying  'We've  got  to do  this,
We've  got  to do that,'  there's an edge of... I don't
know  what,  not even weepiness, she just gets very
upset.  In 1960 that behavior  would be considered
normal.  In 1998 it  would be weird.  I had to find a
way  to make it work for me. So in the places where
she  had  that  kind  of emotion,  I  used aggression
instead" ---
