Message of the Mouth

In the same manner, the mouth emote a range of feelings. How do you show doubt, amazement, and despise using mouth gesture? Try saying “amazing” with emphasis and exaggerated mouth opening and you’d feel the difference. Audience also feels the difference between a lackluster and a passionate way of storytelling. Mouth gestures “enlarge” the emotion you are portraying and help audience perceive the story better. And as I hinted you could portray a personality using your mouth.

Smile is also important in storytelling, especially at the start of your performance. Greet your audience with a winning smile. This will set an open mood and excitement on them. It even pacifies them.

But smile correctly. During a TV interview, Baby Arenas, a personality improvement guru, commented on how people were “trained” to smile. The usual advice we receive is to say “cheese” this is counterproductive or at least not entirely becoming. It seems a forced smile. Arenas advised that it’s better for you to say “eight’ – it shows more delight towards the person you are smiling to.
