MIDSOMER MURDERS

BAD TIDINGS
DETAILED SYNOPSIS

The bloodstained body of Fiona Thompson has been uncovered in a nearby field. Investigations turn to the Midsomer Mallow Residents Association, where Fiona was a very unpopular member. An eyewitness saw Fiona the night of her murder and also recalls hearing an unusual squeaking sound around the same time. Could this be a clue to the killer?

Meanwhile, Barnaby's daughter Cully is planning a reunion with some old high school friends. Having not seen them for nearly 10 years when she does eventually catch up, she's drawn into their lives - and all is not what is seems.

Barnaby and Scott learn from Fiona's husband that she last argued with the local handyman, Stoke. Stoke is well known in the town; he is often seen pushing a cart loaded with tools, asking for odd jobs. Could his cart make the mysterious squeaking sound?

When another member of the residents association, Dr Charles Rust, is found murdered in a similar fashion to Fiona, the investigation intensifies. Barnaby learns that Fiona used to work for Charles, who was the local GP, and the investigation takes an unexpected twist. Barnaby discovers the killer could be closer to him than he thinks.
