Between his busy filming schedule John hosted a "Mid Somer" Village Fayre at St. Paul's Church Grounds, Covent Garden, London. John signed autographs and posed for photographs during the afternoon and was also joined by a whole host of other celebrities including his Midsomer screen wife, Jane Wymark.

In the evening John also performed in the church as a narrator with 'The English Serenata'.
