Recently WILLIAM ADAMS took hold of 4 machines, that were of the older type,
and decided to restore the machines up to the original spec.
These machines we a D4 6U, Armstrong - Holland G-104 Grader, Cat Thirty and a Cat 2 Ton (Holt)
The D4 6U was originally purchased by my boss (Trevor Sauvarin), from an old farm in Gippsland *East of Melbourne*. It was from an estate, and the original owners daughter wanted to get a value on it, and wanted to sell it later, but Trev stepped in, and asked if he could buy it. It was SOLD to William Adams Used Equipment. Used Equipment took delivery of the machine. Then we donated the machine to the manager of Victoria of William Adams, as a gift from Used Equipment. The D4 was put through the workshop and was cleaned, disassembled to a point and reassembled and restored as original as you can get. Then it was serviced and all the adjustments needed were done, and then it was painted.
The Armstong - Holland G-104 Grader, was basically full of rust and i thought it would never go again. But after much attention, like the D4, it came out about 1000% better. This was prepared at the same time as the D4.
The Cat Thirty has been fully restored 100% now. And it is a regular at some farm shows and Ag days. GO HERE to see it fully restored.
The Cat 2 Ton (Holt) has also been fully restored to 100%. Pictures coming soon.
The D4 and the tow grader were restored at the same time. About 6 - 8 months later, the 2 Ton and and Thirty were done.
I am not sure how William Adams aquired the 2 Ton and Thirty, but i think ED might have something to do with it *grin* :)
The serial # of this 2 Ton is 70626 and is a Holt built tractor, as it was built before the mid - 1925 merger between Holt and Best.
If you own a HOLT or CAT 2 Ton, i have listed below, the serial numbers that correspond to wether its an original HOLT or if its after the merger with BEST, that made Caterpillar Tractors. If the serial number is between : -
*** Note: Mid year in 1925 Holt and Best merged to form Caterpillar
Here is a picture of the 4 machines. All these machines function as if they were NEW.
Gratitude goes to Eddie Bedwell and William Adams for putting in the time and effort to restore these machines.
Good Job ED.
Enjoy.
