Skiing 2001 with the Farris Family

This winter season, we decided to go skiing every weekend! We spent most Sundays driving to YMCA of the Rockies (Snow Mountain Ranch) near Winter Park, Colorado. The kids had free nordic skiing lessons each week, while Mommy and Daddy took off and enjoyed skiing alone. Annabelle, of course, either followed in a sled or on Daddy's back!
Mommy became a great Skate-Skier (skating on skis) this season.
Below is a photo of Mommy on her Skate-Skis and Annabelle playing in the snow:
Here's a close up of little Annabelle:
After spending week after week at Snow Mountain Ranch, we decided it was time to enjoy downhill skiing. We first went to Monarch.
Below are some photos of our day at Monarch:
Wow, did we love downhill skiing!
Then, we really got into it! We took a Friday off, and went to Ski Cooper, which is well known for family skiing and great prices!

We read about a kids snowmobile park in VAIL. We promised Joel he would get a chance to ride one of these snowmobiles before the season ended, so in early April, we rode the gondola to the top of VAIL Mountain so that Joel could ride on a snowmobile!
On Easter Sunday 2001, we returned to VAIL. We rode the gondola to the top once more. Even Annabelle skied! Joel and Rebekah went to the bottom of VAIL mountain with Mommy. It took most of the day. After getting some energy back, Rebekah and Mommy took a 2nd trip down VAIL mountain!
What a great winter season!
When we returned home most Sundays, the kids couldn't help but be quite silly!
The best part of our ski adventures this season, was that we spent quality time together as a family each Sunday. Also, skiing helped the kids tremendously with their self-esteem. Everyone's ice skating skills have also improved.
We can't wait to do more skiing in 2002!
