FEET

For a dancer, especially those on pointe, feet is one of the most important part of the body. All the technique seems to be either on the whole body or just the feet.

Every dancer has her/his own way of taking care of their feet. Some put band-aids or tape all around their feet and toes while some put special lotions on. For pointe, the process of protecting the toes and feet are even more important and carefully done.

For me, a gel pad and hockey tape works best. Unlike masking tape and some medical tape that dancers may use, hockey tape stays on even when the feet sweats. The only disadvantage is that hockey tape takes forever to get off but then again which dancer would care.

Some dancers damp their heels with hot/warm water with the pointe shoes on. The shoes would fit better to the feet and decrease friction (the cause of blisters).

One of a few very good ways to help reduce the pain of blisters is putting a layer of second skin on. By second skin, I meant those that people normally use for burnt skin.

As for bunions, it is usually hereditary, there really isn't much one can do to make it go away. There are ways to prevetnt it from getting worse, though. One of the best is to use toe spacers. It works for most people.
