POEMS

I finally wrote some poem about ballet myself. I am not a poet and therefore I don't write good poems. I've gotton a couple poems from some true dancers/ballerinas, thank you all so much. I am still looking for good poems so if you wrote any, please e-mail me at i_love_ballet@hotmail.com or tell me at my guestbook.

Dream
By: Emily Dickinson

I cannot dance upon my Toes
No Man instructed me
But oftentimes, among my mind,
A Glee posscesseth me

That had I ballet knowledge
Would put itself abroad
In pirouette to blance a Troupe
Or lay a Prima, mad

And though I had no Gown of Gauze
No ringlet, to my hair

A poem for all dancers
By:Cherish Horton (a.k.a. TrueBunhead)

I have but one true love
It's what I love to do
And without it I would simply waste away
my bodys my utensil
as is a panters brush
I must not worry how it looks
but how it moves with passion
my soul is my vibrant paint
I let it pour out into the room
to paint the gray walls pink
My dancing is my life
it cant be taken away
for even if I couldnt move I would find a way
If I could do just one thing
you know just what it'd be
because dancing is my one love and forever it will be

My Life
By: Abby Taylor

(This poem is about leaving the hard-core dance program and wishing you hadn't but knowing you had to, it's a haiku)
The pointe shoes lie there
Calling for me to come dance
I have to move on

Dance is...
By: Abby Taylor

Dance
is everywhere
in my heart
and in my thoughts
Like
a never ending story
a wish that won't come true
a friend that I love
Giving
more issues than I need

Anna Pavlova
By: Abby Taylor

She is St. Petersburg's
Prestigious and wonderful Pavlova
Always wanted to dance
since a young age
A spectacle to see
as the soft silent swan
Her emotional, expressive
ancecstatic style thrilled audiences
Cascading flowers always
fell to her feet
Determined, only death
could separate her from the dance

What is Ballet?
By: Joany Macaroni

"What is ballet?" you asked!
Is it a sport?
or is it an art?
Can someone explain it well?
or is it impossible?
Truth is,
it is not a sport,
nor is it an art.
It is an unique combination of the two.
It is just as physically demanding as any other sport.
but moreover,
it is not complete with...
the sense of art,
the sense of expression
and the sense of love.
And yet,
it cannot be explained,
it has to be danced!

When I dance...
By: Joany Macaroni

When I dance,
I forget all the troubles,
like everything's good.
When I dance,
I strive for perfection,
like everything's new.
When I dance,
I free myself,
from reality.
When I dance,
I enjoy myself,
for simply being there.
When I dance,
I AM TRULY ME!!!

I am...
By: Joany Macaroni

I am an athlete and an artist combined together-a dancer
I wonder how far I am from being a professional
I hear the corrections from my teachers
I see dancers with elegant lines
I want to be just as good someday
I am an athlete and an artist combined together-a dancer

I pretend to be absolutely free from troubles
I feel the pulse of the music
I touch the barre and feel secure
I worry about injuries, which might end my dancing career
I cry at the pain from the training muscles
I am an athlete and an artist combined together-a dancer

I understand that the world of dance is VERY competitive
I say nothing but dance
I dream of the day of being accepted into a major company
I try for perfection at all times
I hope to be a principal dancer someday
I am an athlete and an artist combined together-a dancer
