| Xander and Willow walked hand in hand through the lobby of the hotel. "This will be our first meal as married people," she said with a smile. "What would be considered festive, as breakfast food goes?" asked Xander. "Eggs Benedict is special occasion worthy," she replied seriously. "Muffins are good. They have their little paper party hats on. They're ready for a good time," he said. He stopped and pulled her close. "And we could have orange juice. That's one bright and happy beverage. We'll have a little glass of sunshine to start off the day right." They smiled at each other, giddy with newlywed bliss. "Xander? Willow?" said a surprised female voice. They turned and looked behind them. Angel and Cordelia stood side by side. There was an awkward pause. "Are you guys here for the wedding?" asked Willow. "What wedding?" asked Angel, his brow furrowed. Buffy was fast asleep in her bed. Spike sat on the couch, his feet up as he sipped a mug of blood. He held the baby name book in his lap, and looked through it thoughtfully. "Wendy Walthrop," he said to himself. He smiled and highlighted something with a blue marker. Giles plumped up a pillow and shoved it behind Anya's back. They rested against the headboard. He handed her a cup of tea from the tray that was balanced precariously on the bed. "So you've actually met a Morayma demon," he asked her, fascinated. "I'm friends with a few of them," she responded. "We could have dinner with them sometime." "Really! That would be incredible," he replied. "Of course the food might be a little weird," said the blonde. "Oh. What do they eat?" he asked, curious. "It's just the most unnatural, disgusting thing," she said. He looked at her apprehensively. "They're vegetarians." Dawn stood in front of the mirror in her bathroom. Her hair had been dyed black and cut into a short bob right below her ears. She held up a hand mirror, and angled it so that she could see the side of her head. A large ball stud pierced the top cartilage of her ear. Careful not to disturb the large gauze bandage that covered her back, she pulled on a silk robe. She sat on her bed and pulled a large leather bound book from her bag. She read and whispered something over and over. "Spike and Buffy?" said Cordelia loudly. "Are devils gliding around on little ice skates now or what?" Angel stood beside her, his face blank. "Well, that's not what's important right now. We have a job to do." "I had a vision," explained Cordelia. "Drusilla is going to come here and torture someone to death." "Oh my God," said Willow, her eyes wide. "Drusilla?" She turned to Xander. "We have to tell Spike." "The only reason she would come here would be to ruin the wedding," he reasoned. "We can't let Spike or Buffy know." "I've got it under control," explained Angel. "I'm here to see someone. He has to help me." "As always, Angelus, you make assumptions based on nothing," said Aurelius as he appeared behind them. "You guys know each other?" asked Xander. "He's the sire of our line," explained Angel. "You know. The children of Aurelius?" said Cordy condescendingly. "Oh," said Willow wide-eyed. Dawn lay on her stomach and dozed on her bed, her book facedown on the pillow beside her. A delicate white hand slithered through her hair. Dawn rolled onto her side, and looked into the demon face of Drusilla. "Aren't you a pretty little thing?" said the vampire. Dawn screamed and scrabbled off her bed. "There's no need to fight it, little bird," said Drusilla as she moved towards her. "There's no way to fly away now." Dawn pressed her back against the wall and yelled with pain. Dru advanced on her, until she was mere inches from her face. "You smell like lovely, lovely blood," she said. She opened her mouth and bared her fangs. Dawn winced and turned her head. "You smell like blood and something else," the vampire purred,"something rich and dark." She spun Dawn around and pulled down her robe, which revealed the bandage underneath. Drusilla ripped it off with one quick movement. Dawn screamed in anguish. The anticipatory smile on the vampire's face faded and she shifted back to her human appearance. She stared at the tattoo. |
