  2. How did Washington Gladden’s critique of Industrial America reflect his Christian religious convictions? How did he reconcile Christianity with capitalism?
  3. What images of home life and the family did Progressives conjure? How did these compare with the reality of working-class and immigrant America?
  4. What was the relationship between Progressive organizations and government institutions?
  5. How did the Progressives differ from previous reformers (Unions, Populists, etc.)? Consider especially the issue of child labor.
  6. In what ways was the Progressive Movement a specifically Middle-Class reform effort?
