It doesn't seem possible that the Lazy Navy has been afloat nine months.

When Joe and I talked about starting a kayak club one afternoon last July- with the temperature at 103 - one of the concerns we had was whether people would attend meetings and social functions during the months when the weather was too cool for actually getting out on the water.

We shouldn't have been worried. The winter meetings - and especially the Christmas cookout - have been great. And with summer here I'm looking forward to some most - excellent kayak outings!

A couple of highlights of the past few months have been the Lazy Navy's participation in the spring tide clean up in Murrells Inlet and the Waccamaw river boat trip aboard Bob and Jan Kohm's 36-foot Grand Banks Trawler

During the spring tide event, the Lazy Navy did a great job cleaning the area south of the Huntington Beach boat launch. Then we went to the chowder cook off and enjoyed the music and food.

And if you missed the trip on Bob and Jan's boat and all the exploring we did on our kayaks in the smaller creeks, you'll just have to beg the Kohm's to plan another excursion, I am.

Anyway, that’s enough for now. Remember, go with the tide and pack a cooler.
