KAVANAGH'S DRUG STORE

On May 14, 1892 Kavanagh's Drug Store opened at the corner of Water Street and Prescott Street. Shortly after opening, the store closed due to minor damage caused by a fire. On June 4, the company reopened with a sale on such items as perfume, toilet articles and sundry goods which were damaged by smoke. Kavanagh's Drug Store continued to operate into the early 1900s and in 1924, Thomas Kavanagh retired and the business was taken over by J. J. Kielley. In 1932, Kielley moved to 145 New Gower Street, where he operated for a brief period before closing.
