WOOD'S CANDY AND FRUIT STORE

Fred B. Wood came to St. John's during the early 1890s and opened up a restaurant, fruit, confectionery, and flower store on Water Street. He died in 1927.

Photo1 Crown top bottles embossed (on the front) with a crown and the words “TRADE MARK / REGISTERED.” The base of both bottles is embossed “F. B. WOOD CO LTD. / ST JOHNS / NEWFOUNDLAND.” The back of the bottle, near the base, is embossed “W. S & Co H” or “C. S & Co LD.” Aqua in colour, 23.2 cm and 18.7 cm in height. Late 1890s-1913 for bottles marked “C. S. & CO.”, and early 1900s-1920 for bottles with “W. S. & CO. H” on their base.
