Thanks for a great site.
Some of the links did not work on my machine, like images.
I am a descendant of Noah May. My web page is www.oocities.org/carrollms. If you or your partner ever need any help with 45th Research please let me know, I may be able to assist in some basic work or research.
For Bios, I have a little story (oral tradition) on how Noah's wife, Elizabeth Caudill (Cousin to Ben E. Caudill of 13th CSA) rode from Salyersville to Lexington on horseback with her young child as told by my aunt Anna E. May Stark...
Having been widdowed by his death in 1864, "Betty" was apparently still
unmarried. Did I ever tell you that Grandpa Noah May was reported to
be very sick in a Lexington hospital, and that if she wanted to see him
before he died, ahe would have to go there. In 1864 there was no
other way to travel for her but to go on horseback..As I remember
distances she was about 100 plus miles east of him...It was said that,
with a baby in her arms that gallant lady rode to her husband so that he
could see their youngest child.. What a loving relationship...I wonder
what brother rode along beside her. ....and he, Noah, was said to have
died with MEASLES...prevalent in the camps... 011899
Great granparents watched John Hunt Morgan men take hams from
their attics, nd no telling what else like blankets , bacons, cooking
vessels , utensils hard to come by in those days"
there is a similar description in a book in the Magoffin Co historical society
