Keswick Museum Keswick Museum has rooms to display the local heritage, going back to Roman times and before. It is located in Station Street, with a Bowling Green opposite, and a cricket oval in Fitz Park behind. Unfortunately parking is restricted.
View from the Oval This building, opened on 11 April 1898, commemorated the Jubilee of Queen Victoria, was extended in 1906. The fittings and fixtures are original. There is no public toilet and the floor is now slightly uneven. Access is up stairs to the entry.

Jonathan's portrait is on the right of the end window, beside the display cabinet with a copy of his map and guide book.
Mining is one of the heritages of this area, and climbing. One cabinet shows some of the early boots designed to help climb the local peaks.

Flintoft's Model leads us to the Picture Gallery and Poet's Corner. The Museum was designed to house Flintof's relief model of the Lake District, made in 1834 and covering 1200 sq miles at a scale of three inches to the mile, showing fells and valleys, rivers and roads.

Skating on the Lake
The Keswick Museum & Art Gallery Trust has been formed.

They are involved in developing the site in ways such as creating a meeting room, and providing access and toilet facilities.

If you are interested in being a part of this opportunity, write to them, using contact details from one of the official sites.
