Biography

Jonathan Houseman Davis was born on January 18, 1971 in Bakersfield,
California to his mother who worked in a theater and his father, Rick Davis,
who was involved with the music industry and owned his own music store. But
we know all that easy stuff, don't we? So let's get into the real info on the
best vocalist/bagpiper known to man.
Jonathan had a very, very rough and horrible childhood. At the young age of
three, he had to deal with his parents' divorce. When he was just a child, he
was sexually abused by someone that still remains nameless and unknown. His
father, who was on the road more often than he was spending time with his
son, was hardly ever there for him and did not believe Jonathan when he told
him about the abuse. Jonathan uses his father as a representation for the
abuser and the abuse that went ignored. His resentment towards his father
grew with age as he was almost never around and almost always drunk when he
was, but since Jonathan was blessed with a son of his own, it seems as though
he has a new respect for his father. He realizes that he did what his father
did to support his family, but still believes that he really fucked him over.
When Jonathan was tweleve, his father remarried to, well...let's just call
her an extremely evil bitch. This extremely evil bitch made it even harder
for young Jonathan to adjust to this huge change in his life. She simply
hated him, for what reason he does not now. No matter how hard Jon tried, and
no matter how sweet he could be, somehow nothing worked with the extremely
evil bitch. Here's what Jonathan has to say about her:
"It's about a relative I first met when I was 12. I fucking hate that bitch.
She's the most evil, fucked up person I've met in my whole life. She hated my
guts. She did everything she could to make my life hell. Like, when I was
sick she'd feed me tea with Tabasco, which is really hot pepper oil. She'd
make me drink it and say, 'You have to burn that cold out, boy'. Fucked up
shit like that. So every night when I'd go to sleep, I'd dream of killing
that bitch. In some sick way I had a sexual fantasy about her, and I don't
know what that stems from or why, but I always dreamt about fucking her and
killing her."
Jonathan wrote his musical tribute to the extremely evil bitch in the
emotional and heart-wrenching song "Kill You."
Jonathan's amazing musical talent first began to develop at the unbelievably
young age of five, when he began playing the drums. By the time he reached
high school, he had learned how to play many instruments, such as the piano
and of course the infamous bagpipes (he played in his highschool's bagpipe
band). Jonathan studied classical musical at a young age. As he grew, he
liked everything from Duran Duran (his favorite band), Flock of Seagulls and
Missing Persons, to Motley Crue, Ministry, Christian Death and Skinny Puppy.
He believes that a person should never constrict themselves to one type of
music.
Jonathan's musical taste isn't the only unique and original thing about him.
Just about everything about Jon is special...the reason for this being that
he is an individual who refuses to let society mold him. Unfortunately,
however, this caused him even more pain in his teenage years, as he was
ridiculed by cruel jocks with very small penises and even smaller
self-esteems. Because of Jonathan's prediliction to wear eyeliner and
basically wear whatever the fuck he wanted to, Jon was called a faget
throughout high school and was branded as such by almost everyone in Highland
High School--even the teachers.
Jonathan's HIV tattoo on his left arm is a "FUCK YOU" to the cheerleaders who
stuffed their bras, and jocks with small penises, who made fun of him. The
tattoo also serves a purpose for him: to warn him against the wide-spreading
disease known as AIDS. He says: "That tattoo has probably saved my life. You
know in situations when passion and lust take over your brain I take a look
at that tattoo and I remember that the virus is out there and you never know
who's got it."
Many people also don't realize that Jonathan's famous signature says "HIV"
vertically.
On his right arm, Jonathan has a tattoo of an insane bishop ripping his skin
off to reveal Jesus Christ. He says that the tattoo is a representation of
the atrocities that religion creates; and that it is a symbol of how corrupt
religion is.
At the tender age of 16, Jonathan exposed himself to more horror and evil as
he applied to work at Kern Country Coroner's Department. He graduated from
the San Fransisco Mortuary School of Science. Being a fan of horror movies
and such, Jonathan was excited at first to be in the "death business," as he
calls it. But over time, all the reality he was exposed to left an unerasable
scar on his heart. Perhaps the gruesome memory of a little girl who came into
the morgue, raped and murdered by her own father, is the memory that haunts
Jonathan the most. The little girl's story is told through the Korn song
"Pretty."
Working so ferverntly in the "death business" caused Jonathan to develop
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, a very painful disorder caused by traumatic
experiences. It forced Jon to spend his sleep trapped in nightmares of the
death that surrounded him on a daily basis during his career at the coroner's
office.
Leaving the death and horror behind him, Jonathan went against his father's
wishes and joined a band, Sex Art, which was composed of Jonathan, Ty Elam
(Videodrone), Ryan Shuck (Orgy) and others who went on to form a band known
as Juice. That, Jonathan's fate was to be sealed forever as two very special
guitar players discovered Jonathan's band playing at a local club. As Brian
"Head" Welch and James Christian "Munky" Shaffer were just about to leave,
Jonathan kicked his vocal cords into action and turned both their heads right
around. They approached him about joining their band Creep--and although
Jonathan was reluctant at first, a consultation with a psychic (his aunt)
confirmed his fate.
A mini-Jonathan came into the world on a Wednesday, October 18th,
1995--Nathan Houseman Davis. Renee Perez, his girlfriend that had stuck by
his side since before Korn was born and lived with him in the corner of a
garage, gave birth to the child. And on such an odd date and time--it was the
18th of the month, as is Jonathan's birthday, and was on a Wednesday...which
is also the day Jonathan was born. The really weird part comes here: they
were both born on the same hour. Jonathan's aunt (the psychic who told him to
join Korn) states that she feels a strange aura around the boy.
Jonathan and Renee were married in 1998, after 7 years together. After
Jonathan's nervous breakdown and onslaught of sobriety, he needed something
to feed the addiction he craved for, but could not get it from drugs or his
favorite alcoholic beverage, Jagermeister. As an alternative, Jonathan turned
to sex as his relief from his pain and pressures. Because of this and other
reasons, Renee and Jonathan are no longer together. During the time of their
break-up, Jon was very suicidal, but it seems that now he is better and
moving on...although he still refuses to play songs relating to her in
concert (Need To, My Gift to You).
For Jonathan, opening up about his deepest, most painful memories and
experiences was almost the hardest thing to do on the first Korn album. It
hurt like hell, but at the same time, it provided him a channel to vent
through, to release his pent-up anger, hate and pain. For over six years
Jonathan has taught his ever-growing legion of fans many things about life.
His words walked with us through the halls of our schools, shielding us from
the staring eyes and hurtful jokes made at our expense. They helped us deal
with bitter and hateful parents, abusive situations, and so much more. This
extremely long biography can tell you many interesting facts about the man we
know as Jonathan Davis, but just one minute of his music will tell you more
than I could ever type in my life.
