Here is our take on the Anaheim Show!!!
First, the crowds in Anaheim are VERY polite. Everyone lined up in rows of two to enter the arena. In every other city we've see the WWF the crowds have rushed the door and crowded to get in. But not in Anaheim; you'd think they were going to the opera or something.
We got there late so we ran over to watch the wrestlers come in. We got there just in time to see UT enter. What a gorgeous man. I was so happy. In Vegas he entered in a limo so we didn't get to see him at all. In Seattle he was a no show. So our timing was perfect. I really wasn't interested in who else would be coming since it was so late I figured we better head over to the will call box. The line was incredibly long for Will Call. There was NO line at all if you wanted to buy your tixs right then. Go figure.
After we got our tix we went back to see if there were anymore wrestlers going in. The crowd waiting to see the wrestlers had dispersed due to the doors to the arena opening. Guess they all thought it best to wait in that incredibly long and disciplined line. We thought we'd hang out and see if we could catch Foley. It seems that he's usually the last one to show. We by golly!! Guess who drove his sweet self up. None other than Foley himself. He slowed down, smiled at us and drove on in. We were thrilled. What a sweety he is. So we saw UT and Foley. Oh hell yeah, life is good!! We chatted with some young kid lookin' to go pro standin' there waiting to see a wrestler or two. He referred to UT as "Mark". I guess thinking we'd be impressed with his knowledge. Well, you know. Yawn. But he was a sweety and I wish him the best of luck, and a few more inches.
Finally the line to the arena was gone and all the people had found there way in so we decided to see if we could improve our seating arrangements. Oh yeah!!! Scored!!! Three rows off the floor. Just perfect for short kids, like mine. We were very happy!! Another good show. The Brood was first. Always good to see Edge. God that man just can't help but be absolutely gorgeous. Brood won, of course. Test fails every Test. Sable looked as Sable always does. She announced that she would be shooting her 2nd Playboy spread the following day. Incredibly loud applause for her. The crowd goes wild for her, even in her time of absolute abnoxiousness. Oh well. Of coures Nicole Bass was with her. Seemed rather odd that Sable would come to a house show just to share that will us. A rather special appearance for well...a house show.
The Hardcore match was a tad bit hokey. Hardcore Holly had the Fire Extinquisher and couldn't get it to work so he tried shaking it, and hitting it and finally he looked into the mouth of it. Of course just at that moment it goes off in his face. Well, hokey or not, I hate Holly so I loved seeing it. Then Al Snow got hold of the Fire Extinquisher and very capably lands a dose of that crap on Holly. Whoooooo!!! Love to see that stuff. Nice table chant and table action. Special bonus of chair shots too! More was offered to us at this hardcore match than at the one in Seattle.
Shane came out and blabbed for a while. Still can't stand that man. We just stood up, gave him the thumbs down and booed him until he was done. Of course I joined in during the A**hole chant!!
Mick Foley and Mideon were adorable in there match. It was really fun. Mick would say something and Mideon would turn around and repeat it. Then this happened again. Then the third time Foley said "if you do it again I'm gonna kick your ass all over this building." Well with out a beat of hesitation Mideon proceeded to play copy cat hence Mankind proceeded to kick Mideon's butt!!! Hey Foley!! and Socko. They are such cuties! :-) There was a lot of acting...or, entertainment, in this match. Very amped as many of this evenings matches were. More so than at the other shows.
Kane and X-Pac looked good. Glad they beat the Acolytes. (I may love UT but I can't stand most of the Ministry and now the Corporate Ministry...Yikes!)
The next match was quite odd for a house show. It really symbolized that something was up with WWF's approach to the Anaheim Arena. It rang home that WWF had underlying motives. I just didn't know what they were at the time.
It was announced that Big Show would be taking on Viscera for a $5,000.00 purse sponsored by Nitendo. Remember folks this was a house show!!! Oh hell yeah, bring it on!!! Can you believe it! What a great match up; two incredibly large men. Great job casting that one. Well, the foreplay ended up being much better than the actual climax but I really enjoyed the foreplay, so it all worked out okay. The match lasted about 2 minutes. The rules were simply first man to slam the other wins. That's right, no pinning involved just a slam. Well Viscero twice attempted to life the Giant off the floor unsuccessfully. Then the Giant lifted The Ministry of Darkness' Big Guy up slammed his extra-wide ass and won the purse. The Big Show proceeded to distribute the money to the first couple of rows. Those lucky bastards. ;-)
Next Jim Ross comes out to AC/DC's Back in Black (again, this is special treatment, not typical of a house show) to announce a three way tag team match up between Road Dogg & Billy Gunn, Owen Hart & JJ, and The Brood.
Before the match went on Hebner tried to get some girl sitting nearly in the back row on the floor to lift her shirt. She was clearly sinking to the bottom of her chair while also contemplating the proposal. Twice she got up and faced the boys in the nose bleed seats but I don't think she ever gave them more than a tease. Very funny, Hebner was highly animated. Of course there were puppy chants galore. IF you ask me Hebner is quick the little instigator of "Puppy" chants.
Christian was quickly pinned getting the Brood out of there in a hurry. I HATE Christian. When will Edge and Gangrel separate from him. He is definately a third wheel and extra baggage. Boys!!! Drop him NOWWW!!!!!! Owen and JJ won.
BA and RD bickered after the match up. Clearly a sign that there relationship was deteriorating. :-( Gunn gave his water bottle to my daughter in Seattle. We love loving these guys. Change is always so difficult.
Val and Tori won against Di-Lo and Ivory. Ivory is still very good with the crowd and thankfully her outfits are getting much better too! Her tacky 70's stuff really had to go. The new look of sleek black is much more appropriate. Tori looked good too. God does that women ever tease the boys in the front rows. It's like here boys come check out my ass. Oh oh oh, let me move over here so I can now shove my ass in your face. She's a bit much. Ivory is very cool.
The next match at this HOUSE SHOW was a CASKET MATCH between UT and Shamrock. Oh hell yeah!!! Taker looked great!!! It was a long match. They would go back and forth; UT almost in; Shamrock almost in; finally Shamrock in. There was interference by Bradshaw which led to UT's win.
The next match was a gas, just huge amounts of fun and laughter. Godfather comes down with two hos. One's shirt is so spread out she's ready to lose it, especially with all that bouncing she's doing. But of course the boys go for that, so there ya go. Then comes Goldust and the BM. Goldust has some powder and accidently gets it in BM's eyes. BM starts swinging, thinking that its Godfather he's swinging at. Godfather is comically facing BM in the right direction as to further promote the "accidental" beating Goldust is taking from the BM. In the end, the blinded BM delivers a Shattered Dream to Goldust and the Goldfather then Pimp drops Goldust for the win. (This same skit was done in reverse - Goldust getting the powder in his eyes - the following night in San Diego). Very funny skit, had me rolling in laughter.
The final match was SCSA/ROCK against HHH/Bossman in a steel cage. Yep, my first steel cage match (and first casket match) and both at a house show!!!! Big smiles. :-) It was a fun match. SCSA won by giving the BM a stunner. He then proceeded to stun Shane and Rock bottom lines those abnoxious Possee boys.
Thank you big boys!!
And that was it!! Went back to my sister's pad to get a little sleep before the drive down to the San Diego Sports Center for the Live show of SNH and the taping of RAW on the following night!! Oh hell yeah!!!
