Update On The Harts' Pending Lawsuit Against The WWF (Posted by Christopher Murray on June 14, 1999 at exactlly 10:20:27 Eastern) Update On The Harts' Pending Lawsuit Against The WWF As I reported on this newsboard on Friday, the Hart family is preparing to sue the World Wrestling Federation over the death of Owen Hart at the May 23 WWF Over The Edge pay-per-view event. On Sunday, Owen's widow, Martha Hart, boarded a plane for the United States with Owen's brother Bret Hart and Owen's parents Stu and Helen Hart. Martha and company left their hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and boarded a Northwest Air flight to Kansas City, Missouri. On Tuesday, June 15, 1999, the Hart family is expected to announce a major wrongful death lawsuit against the World Wrestling Federation. A press conference is scheduled for 11:00am in a downtown Kansas City hotel. The Hart family is reportedly going to sue for hundreds of millions of dollars. Martha Hart refused to comment on the lawsuit under advisement from her lawyers. Martha hired a total of four lawyers from Calgary and Kansas City to help prepare this wrongful death lawsuit. Owen's brother Bret "The Hitman" Hart told the Calgary Sun, "We just want to find out what happened and who's accountable." Currently, a criminal investigation is ongoing by Kansas City police to determine what exactly went wrong with the stunt that cost Owen Hart his life. As soon as the press conference concludes on Tuesday, we hope to have a complete report of the Harts' announcement from the Kansas City hotel. |
