A Fan's Thoughts
On Taker's Injuries

I know that many people have been hearing rumors about the Undertaker's injuries for a long time now, but I've been hearing things that are really starting to scare me.

I regularly visit the plots and tombstones site that is almost always completely accurate, and they are reporting that Mark Calaway is suffering from such severe injuries in his ankle, back, knee, and an arthritic condition in his pelvis.

They say that he has already been putting off much-needed surgery for a while now because he is aware that it could possibly end his in-ring career. Now it seems that he will have no other choice than to have this surgery as it is getting increasingly difficult for him to even walk without the aid of painkillers and all sorts of injections.

He can no longer wrestle, and I personally have no idea how he is even going to be able to do this upcoming pay per view Unforgiven. I think that it is important for all Undertaker fans now to realize how much pain Mark Calaway really is in, and has been in for a while.

THIS REALLY IS SERIOUS!!!!!!!

He is either going to go missing after Unforgiven or the pay per view after that, and basically it seems like he is struggling to drag himself through the remainder of the year.

The WWF already had to put several angles on a halt due to his physical condition. He was scheduled to return to a fan favourite role after summerslam, and scheduled to do another joining up with Kane. But instead the WWF decided to keep Kane in the face role with X-pac which was going good, and stick Taker with Paul Wight who has done nothing but upset WWF officials with his performance and attitude since joining earlier this year.

I'm not sure as I know many Taker fans, and message boards are not completely sure exactly what the situation is with Taker right now. But it is obvious he is hurting. Whether or not he will retire from the ring for good, and do other things for the WWF, or just have surgery and hope to return after he heals, remains to be seen.

The sad thing is it seems to us the fans, that the Taker character could go on forever. We would be satisfied to see him continue to fight different opponents, and add new dimensions to his legacy, but it is a sobering thought to realize that there is a human man behind this character whose body has become rampant with injury. We have to realize he isn't superman, and he cannot go on forever. I'm sure he has difficult decisions to make right now. He probably wants to be able to heal and come back, but is probably thinking that who knows how long it will take, and he may feel like he is too old and there will be no point anyway.

Whatever he is thinking this probably isn't the happiest moment of his career. He is amazingly still one of the WWF's hottest superstars and has done everything in his power to perform well this year dispite increasingly severe pain.

All I know is that it will be a great dissapointment if this turns out to be the Taker's last ever year in the WWF. I know there will be several very upset fans, the biggest one being myself.
