Lots of WWF Tidbits
WWF was number one on Ticketmaster's top ten events board last week coming in
ahead of the rest of the top five (in order) the Seattle Mariners, Bruce Springsteen,
the Chicago Cubs, and NSynch.
WCW placed no. 13.
The Rock will throw out the first pitch of the Aug. 1st Pittsburgh Pirates game.
Big Bossman will appear on the July 10th "America's Most Wanted" on Fox.
The WWF's Oct. 2 European PPV will be called "WWF Rebellion."
MTV is scheduled to have "WWF Week" starting Aug. 9th with a number of WWF
themed programs featuring several WWF personalities.
Chris Jericho may have to alter his in-ring style in the WWF. The WWF ropes are loose
and flimsy
compared to WCW's so the Lionsault, for instance, may not be possible. The mat is
harder than
WCW's, so it may limit the bumps he takes or flying moves he executes.
Shawn Michaels appears on USA Network's "Pacific Blue" on Aug. 1st and 8th.
A full page in the latest WWF Magazine advertises the book "Vampire: The
Masquerade" which supposedly explains the history of the Brood.
A student wrote a letter published in the Arizona Republic apologizing to members of
the community for "disgracing myself and my
school by putting 'WWF Champ Stone Cold Rules' -on the school marquee. It was very
immature of me
and I would like to say I am sorry if this action offended you in any way".
Wrestlemania payoffs came in last week and were disappointing to a
number of wrestlers, although not so bad that there is talk of a major rebellion or
forming a union.
Michael Cole & Kevin Kelly will host UPN Smackdown. Ross and Lawler will remain on
Raw.
Raw will be live every Monday night and Smackdown will be taped every Tuesday
night. Heat will not be live anymore. In fact, the plan is to tape the PPV pregame hour
at the
Smackdown tapings to avoid burning out the PPV audience before the PPV begins.
Only TV Guides sold on the newsstand featured Rena Mero on the cover. Subscribers
received an issue with a different cover.
A full-page ad for Coca Cola features an animated wrestler closely resembling Ultimate
Warrior, including long hair, face paint, and arm tassels.
Midian was originally slated to do the bathroom stall farting skit on GTV several weeks
back. Mark Henry ended up doing it.
Hunter pushed for X-Pac to get the King of the Ring tournament win,
but WWF management felt it was necessary to give a heel a boost since they are
short in that category.
Jim Cornette is moving to Louisville, Ky. where he will oversee wrestlers under WWF
developmental
contracts work for Dan Briley's Ohio Valley Championhship Wrestling. Ohio Valley will
be the
AA circuit and Power Pro will be the AAA circuit before the WWF calls up wrestlers to
the major league.
Terry Taylor is pushing for the WWF to restart a light-heavyweight division and push
it for
real this time around. He is running into opposition in high places, so it might not
happen.
