Shinya sat upright in his blue frilled dress letting light brown locks fall
around his doll shaped face. He moved his long fingers up to push away a
stray lock from his soft almond shaped eyes trying despretely to pay
attention to his morning Literature reading. "Shinya please pay attention!"
Mayu sighed deeply and layed the soft leather bound book on the glass table
and placed his hand over his delicate features in a sign of exasperation.
"You must keep your mind out of the clouds. That is no place for a growing
young lady..err...person." Shinya looked up with a silent plea in his eyes.
"But Mayu-chan they are so dull. Why can't I read of adventures and such,
not boring old men discovering America or a stupid tea party." Mayu lifted
one delicate eyebrow. "You are only jealous because you are to young to come
to the tea party with me and Mama this afternoon." Shinya turned a light
pink and huffed. "I am not!" Shinya stomped at his older brother and tears
welled up in his eyes. "Shinya please control yourself! It is quite unlady
like to make such noise and cry like a little child! You are nearly 16!
(Alice was 13 but oh well. ^^;~Kyo)
Before Shinya could protest the clock on the mantel chimed eleven o'clock
and Shinya stood up silently and bowed to Mayu, his silky tresses falling
lightly around his face. "May I be excused from my readings now Mayu, onegai?"
Mayu smiled slightly and regained his wit. "Hai, just don't go fumbling
outside and ruining your new dress again. It's quite unlady like to-" "To
lay around outside, I know Mayu-chan." Shinya slowly walked over to his
brother and kissed him on the cheek and walked out to the patio.
Shinya walked silently out on the patio clearing his throat lightly as to
not scare his grandmother. "Shinya dear, what are you doing out of your
studies so early?" Shinya sat down on one of the chairs and folded out his
dress. "I am sorry mama. I just got so bored and aggrevated I couldn't help
myself." Shinya bite his lip and looked down at the cobblestone ground.
"Shinya, honey, what's wrong?" Grandmother came over and cupped Shinya's
face in her palms. He took in the sent of her. Raspberries mixed with
cinnamon....he loved that smell. He figeted alittle and avoided her gaze as
best he could. "Well, I...Can't I please attend the tea party mama? I
promise to be quite and act like a lady." Grandmother sighed sadly and let
go of his chin pulling a chair in front of him. "Shinya dear..." She cupped
his hands in hers. "You know I would love to have you join, but your not old
enough. When your eighteen I will let you. But until then honey, no." Shinya
sighed and brought up a slight smile from his rosy lips. "I should have
expected that. What makes age such an important property in tea parties
anyway? I thought One should only need to know how to carry One's self and
that would be it?" Grandmother smiled and continued setting out smile china
cups. "It is alittle more that that dear. But I won't ruin the suprise for
you. I'll let you find out for yourself then." Grandmother tapped Shinya on
the nose lightly. "Now go along and let me finish before I go into a
muddle." Shinya giggled lightly, remembering to cover his mouth, and stood
up bowing curtiously to his grandmother. "Hai, mama." He pecked her on the
cheek and went into the living area and plopped down on a delicately
embroidered chair.
Shinya combed his fingers lightly through his hair and picked up a silver
mirror and looked in it. He studied his long eyelashes silouetting is eyes,
his deep brown eyes, his full pouting rosy lips and perfect cheek bones. "I
think I look mature enough...." He place the mirror carefully back onto the
chair. "I act mature enough..." He sat up straight and mimoced holding a tea
cup and talking to other ladies. "I speak clearly and maturely enough." "How
do you do, lovely day is it not?" He spoke outload to the thin air. "So why
am I still not considered mature enough." Shinya slumped down exasperated in
his chair and placed one hand over the other in his lap. "It's just simply
not fair. Mayu got to join one of mama's tea parties when he was 17, so why
can I not skip alittle and join one." Shinya wrinkled his nose and screamed
out. "It's not fair!" About that time lighting struck loadly outside and all
the lights went off in the house. Shinya "eeeped" with a start and stood up.
"Oh..silly me, just a small storm..." He looked around nervously and called
out for Mayu. "Mayu! Where are you? Why do you not answer me?" Shinya began
to look around worridly and walked over to the door connecting to the
dinning room. He turned the knob and it wouldn't open. "Nani??" Shinya began
frantically pulling at the knob and it still wouldn't open. "W-what's going
on? Why won't it open? MAMA! MAYU! TASUKETE! WHY WON'T IT OPEN??? I'M LOCKED
IN HELP!" Shinya let go of the door and began running to the other side of
the room but stopped dead in his tracks in the middle.
Shinya looked into the large mirror above the mantel. He walked slowly up to
it and put his hand to it. Inside, the room was lit and Dina, his cat, was
laying lazily on the couch grooming herself. "Dina! Dina it's Shinya look at
me!" Shinya began tapping his nails on the mirror frantically to get her
attention and succeeded in getting a fat cat jumping off the couch and down
onto the embroidered rug. "N-nani?.." Shinya turned around slowly and looked
at his surroundings. He was in the same room, only, the lights were out and
there was a thunder storm outside..and forsome odd reason, it looked alot
more meanacing and scared Shinya.
Shinya turned back to the gold embroidered mirror and stared at the
surroundings for a moment. "How could this have happened? I must be
dreaming..." After a few more moments Grandmother came walking into the room
and started straigtening the pillows and things. "Mama? Mama! It's me,
Shinya! Don't you see me, mama!!!" Shinya began frantically banging on the
mirror trying to get Grandmothers attention when suddenly, all the lights
came on and the storm stopped.
