Self Dry Salt Clay
1 1/2 cups of salt
4 cups of flour
1 1/2 cups of water
1 teaspoon of alumMix all dry ingredients in a non-metal bowl.
Slowly add water.
When well mixed, knead the dough.
Add water if too dry, flour if too wet.Note! If you do not add alum, bake the shapes at 200 F for about 1 hour.

Pound out a piece of clay, about an inch thick, into a shape larger than the child's hand.
Press hand into clay firmly pressing down with the other hand.
Remove hand and wash.
Mix plaster of paris according to the directions.
Fill clay handprint with the plaster of paris.
When the plaster of paris is dry, peel off the clay and brush off the handprint.
Paint the handprint!
