The Lee Myung Bak conservative ruling forces which took power on February 25 get more undisguised in pro-US sycophancy and anti-north Korean confrontation and viciously challenge the advance of the independent reunification era.

The Lee Myung Bak group’s confrontational concept of the Cold War era and anti-north moves are triggering fierce anger and protest from the people of different social standings.

The Democratic Labor Party, the Solidarity for Realizing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, the People for Peace and Reunification, the Reunification Plaza, the National Federation of Peasants Associations and other political parties and social organizations held a press conference in Seoul on March 28 denouncing the anti-nation and anti-reunification rash acts of the Lee Myung Bak group.

Noting that the Lee group let loose nowadays a spate of outcries such as “no implementation of the October 4 Declaration without progress in north’s nuclear issue” and “pressurizing the north through augmenting the south Korea-US alliance”, they condemned that traitor Lee Myung Bak totally denied the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, saying that “there will be no more negotiation with the north in disregard of the people's intention” and ordering to the officials of the Unification Ministry not to make any proposal to and contact with the north before the talks with the US.

They also disclosed that the anti-reunification conservatives including the heavyweights in the current “government” such as ministers of Unification and the Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the south Korean forces are vying with each other in openly stoking the confrontation against the fellow countrymen.

They stressed that the Lee Myung Bak group which is running amuck in hamstringing the development of the inter-Korean relations and going back to the confrontational era of the Cold War, should be held accountable for all the consequences entailed by its reckless moves.

Permanent co-representatives of the Solidarity for Realizing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration made public on April 2 an emergency appeal under the title “Let us check and frustrate the Lee Myung Bak regime’s confrontation moves”.

The appeal indicated that the current regime’s confrontational moves to make the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration a mere scrap of paper can not be tolerated and called to crush the Lee Myung Bak regime’s dangerous provocative moves against the north through struggle, and pool every effort to the struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and disclosing and smashing the Lee Myung Bak regime’s reckless war moves.

Meanwhile, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification in its commentary on April 3 stressed that the Lee Myung Bak ruling quarters would plainly notice how imprudent their daydream is to swim against the reconciliation, unity and the era of June 15 reunification, and go back to the past age of confrontation.

Only disgraceful defeat and end wait for those who hold a stand against the people's mindset and turn back on the nation.

The AINDF and the patriotic people from all walks of life in south Korea will surely frustrate the anti-nation and anti-reunification moves of the Lee Myung Bak gentries to audaciously stem the vigorous advance of our nation toward reconciliation, unity and reunification, upholding the banner of “by our nation itself”.

 

 

For Independent Reunification and the Era of Peace and Prosperity

 

- On the occasion of the 60^th anniversary of the historic Joint Conference of Representatives from Political Parties and Social Organizations in South and North of Korea

 

On April 18, the Solidarity for Realizing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils, the South Korean Solidarity for Progress and other civic organizations made public statements and articles and held commemoration functions on the occasion of the 60^th anniversary of the historic Joint Conference of Representatives from Political Parties and Social Organizations in South and North Korea.

The statements, articles and the participants in the functions stressed that the joint conference which was held in Pyongyang in April 1948 was a significant gathering of the Korean nation aimed at opposing the US policy of dominating the Korean Peninsula and building an independent and sovereign state, and that the spirit of the great unity of the nation clarified in the joint conference is being carried forward by the spirit of “By our nation itself” enshrined in the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 Declaration.

And they fervently called on the whole nation in the north, south and overseas to denounce the Lee Myung Bak conservative ruling forces which cling to the confrontation policy against compatriots and to rise up in the struggle to smash their policy of “no nukes, opening and bringing the per-capita income of north Korea to 3,000$”.

 

- South Korean people's struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration

. On April 12 the South Headquarters for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration published a statement demanding the “government” to apt for restoration of the inter-Korean relations.

Referring to the fact that soon after the Lee Myung Bak regime took power the confidence between the south and the north is seriously impaired and the inter-Korean relations get more aggravated, the statement strongly demanded it implement the October 4 declaration in a responsible manner and take positive measures to restore the inter-Korean relations even belatedly.

. Members of civic and youth and student organizations in the Seoul area including the Seoul Reunification Solidarity held a rally around the US embassy in Seoul on April 19 for inheriting the spirit of the April 19 Uprising, condemning the south Korea-US summit meeting and supporting and implementing the June 15 joint declaration.

The participants mentioned traitor Lee Myung Bak’s humiliating and submissive acts toward the outsiders during his recent US junket.

They chanted such slogans as “Let us implement the June 15 joint declaration and drive the GIs out south Korea!”, holding posters written with letters “We oppose the negotiations to scoop for the US and the south Korea-US FTA”, “The Lee Myung Bak regime, implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 Declaration” and “Revoke at once the policy of no nukes, opening and bringing the per-capita income of north Korea to 3,000$, a policy of confrontation against the compatriots”.

Prior to the rally members of the youth and student organizations conducted propaganda activities calling for holding fast to and implementing the June 15 joint declaration around Gwanghwamun.
