Brilliant Image of the Lifeguard

On 22 September, 1949, comrade Kim Jong Suk who dedicated her all to the sacred cause of building a new state and reunifying the country to perform the undying exploits, passed away so regrettably.

However, the Korean people dearly cherish still in their mind the brilliant image of the anti-Japanese heroine comrade Kim Jong Suk who left the noble example of devotedly defending the leader holding fast to the arms of Mt. Baekdu in the complicated period of building a new state after the country¡¯s liberation as well as in the period of the anti-Japanese war.

She always held fast to the arms and devotedly defended as a fortress and shield President Kim Il Sung, the sun of the nation, in the critical moments when the Japanese imperialist ran amuck to harm the headquarters of revolution with lots of troops and war hardware during the unprecedentedly harsh period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

There are vivid footprints of the woman general of Mt. Baekdu who devotedly defended the leader in every bloody battlefield such as the battles of Fusong Town, Daehongdan, Loshuhe, Honggihe, Daeshahe and Hwangguryong.

She dried wet clothes of President Kim Il Sung in her body in bitter cold winter days, made a cotton-quilted overcoat for him after knowing that cotton could prevent bullets, knitted for him shoe-soles with her hair and kept always a bottle of vinegar to detect poisoned salt to secure the safety of the headquarters of the revolution in every way.

Such stories are the lofty expression of her spirit of devotedly defending the leader and its lifelike picture.

And her intransigent struggle against the anti-revolutionary ideas during the period of the anti-Japanese war is an immortal feat that further strengthened the unity and cohesion of the revolutionary ranks centered on the President in the period of the most severe ordeal and created a shining model how the revolutionaries should defend and adhere to the leader¡¯s ideas and lines.

In the days of building a new country after Korea¡¯s liberation when the enemies desperately attempted to do harm to the headquarters of revolution she devotedly defended the great President with the arms.

Though her life was short her august name and immortal exploits will shine forever along with the history of Songun Korea.
