As leader Kim Jong Il, who is brilliantly carrying forward President Kim Il Sung’s instructions for national reunification, provided the October 4 declaration for the development of the north-south relations and peace and prosperity on October 4, 2007, the Korean people's struggle for the reunification entered a new historical stage.

The October 4 declaration is a practical program to positively adhere to the June 15 joint declaration and thoroughly implement it.

The October 4 declaration deals with wide-ranging issues for developing the inter-Korean relations, and realizing the peace of the Korean Peninsula and the common prosperity and reunification of the nation.

It deals with the issues of firmly converting the inter-Korean relations into the relations of mutual respect and trust, putting an end to the military hostile relations between the north and the south, converting the current ceasefire mechanism to a permanent peace one, achieving the balanced development of the national economy and the common prosperity, and developing the exchange and cooperation in social, cultural and other fields.

As soon as the October 4 declaration was made public as a practical program which set the cornerstone for comprehensively realizing the June 15 joint declaration, it aroused absolute support and fervent sympathy from the people over the world as well as the entire Korean compatriots.

However, the Lee Myong-bak group which took power in south Korea despicably slandered the declarations that the north and the south agreed upon and solemnly announced before the whole nation and the world, and openly refused their implementation, pursuing inter-Korean confrontation in collusion with the outside forces.

 That the Lee Myong-bak group opposes the reunification programs common to the nation, of which validity was proved through the reality of the June 15 era of independent reunification, is an anti-nation crime against the unity and independent reunification of the nation.

The historic June 15 joint declaration and its practical program, the October 4 declaration are the milestone and banner of victory in the era of independent reunification.

The patriotic south Korean people from all walks of life will steadfastly reject the pro-US sycophantic and anti-reunification moves of the Lee clan and more vigorously conduct the struggle to positively support and defend the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and implement them.

The progressive people of the world, who are always much concerned to Korea’s reunification will also extend their firm support and solidarity to the just cause of the Korean people for the national reunification.
