Idea of ¡°By Our Nation Itself¡±, Banner of National Reunification

The idea of ¡°By Our Nation Itself¡± is the principle of independence that takes precedence over its own nation and safeguards its interests, and a fundamental stance that should be held fast to in the reunification movement.

It is because Korea¡¯s division was forced by foreign forces and the struggle of the Korean people for reunification is just the struggle to put a period to the outsiders¡¯ domination and realize the national independence.

Apart from this idea it is impossible to settle any problem of the national reunification in accordance with the interests and demands of the Korean nation.

With this idea north and south Korea could clear off the decades-long history of distrust and confrontation, and usher in a new era of reconciliation and unity, and promote the national independence, that had been desired but unrealizable for long, as the mainstream.

However, the Lee Myung-bak clique that came to power in south Korea has slandered the idea of ¡°By Our Nation Itself¡± as ¡°narrow-minded and chauvinistic nationalism¡± and got hell-bent on cooperation with outsiders and inter-Korean confrontation only advocating the so-called ¡°open nationalism¡± and ¡°cooperation with international community¡±.

Recently, the Lee clique of traitors found fault with the satellite launch and the self-defensive nuclear activities of the north as a ¡°threat to peace¡±, undermined the inter-Korean relations and aggravated the tension of the Korean Peninsula in conspiracy with the outsiders including the US, running amuck to suffocate the fellow countrymen.

The issues of inter-Korean relations and the reunification can never be solved by sycophancy and dependency on foreign forces.

Moreover, the cooperation with outsiders, giving priority to them while neglecting the compatriots, can by no means be tolerated as a traitorous act hindering the unity and reunification of the nation in favor of the outsiders¡¯ interests.

The aggressive outsiders never desire Korea¡¯s reunification but plot to keep the Korean nation divided indefinitely, fishing in troubled waters.

Relying on such outsiders the Korean nation can never realize the reunification but aggravate the national division and confrontation.

The Lee Myung-bak clique had better retract the anachronistic treacherous policy of dependency on foreign forces and opt for prioritizing the nation and defending the common interests of the nation, not the outsiders¡¯.

Only then, the inter-Korean relations can be improved and a turning phase for the national reunification can be opened. If the south Korean regime has a serious willingness for dialogue and cooperation with the north, it should renounce its evil scheme and pursue the independent policy in conformity   with the idea of ¡°By Our Nation Itself¡±.

The AINDF and the patriotic people in south Korea will determinedly frustrate, with concerted efforts, the pro-US sycophancy and the tie-up with outsiders of the Lee regime which runs counter to the current of independent reunification, engrossed in worshiping of the US and sycophancy, and antagonism of the fellow countrymen.

Democratization of Society is a Call of the Times

The south Korean people's rage toward the Lee Myung-bak dictatorial regime is sky-high.

Over 120 professors of Seoul University made public a declaration on the situation on June 3. With this as a start the campaign is spreading rapidly throughout other universities.

On June 3, 4 and 5, professors of Choong-ang, Shilla, Gyeongsang, Gyeongbuk, Ryeongnam, Gyemyung, Daegu, Choongbuk, Gyeongnam Universities and many other universities published declarations on the situation one after another.

The declarations claimed that the current situation on the watershed of dictatorship or democracy is the outcome resulted from the undemocratic acts of the dictatorial Lee Myung-bak regime which has suppressed and trampled upon the human rights and democracy from the outset of the ruling.

Indicating that millions of people are out in protest against the Lee regime which schemes for keeping power through dictatorship and fascist suppression, the declarations stressed that it is a natural upshot borne of Lee Myung-bak¡¯s dictatorship.

The declarations noted that the achievements of the struggle for democracy gained in south Korea in the past have been ruthlessly infringed upon since Lee¡¯s seizure of power and this land is no less than shambles with no gun-report overruled by the jungle law.

They urged Lee Myung-bak to entirely hold accountable for all the situation, apologize to the people and ensure the freedom of ideas, expression, assembly and demo, the basic rights of the people.

Besides, professors of Busan, Dong-A, Gyeongsong Universities and other universities in the Busan and Daejeon areas and in South Chungcheong Province expressed their intention to publish declarations and those in Seonggyunguan, Dongguk Universities and South Jeolla Province declared they would take part in the ongoing campaign.

On June 5 chairmen of general student councils of some 30 universities including Korea University, and 2,386 students from 42 universities made public a declaration on the situation in front of the plaza of Seoul municipal office.

The declaration stressed that they cannot tolerate any longer the Lee Myung-bak regime which has not only destroyed democracy and exacerbated the inter-Korean relations but also threatens peace and pursues dictatorial policy, and called upon all the students for the 2nd June uprising.

Opposition parties, civic organizations, religious men, students and other people of various strata as well are conducting a wide-range campaign to cope with the situation development.

In short, the current situation of south Korea reminds of the eve of the Gwangju popular uprising broke out in May 1980.

The large-scale anti-regime struggles were launched on May Day, on the 1st anniversary of the candlelit demos and the 100th day since the death of the evacuees in Ryongsan. Workers¡¯ struggle for defending their rights to existence in recent days and other unprecedented anti-Lee Myung-bak struggle drive the group of traitors into a tight corner.

Such roaring shouts heard on the streets of struggle like ¡°Lee Myung-bak who undermines democracy, step down!¡±, ¡°Let us act and fight, out of indignation!¡± and ¡°Let us all turn out to oust the killing regime of Lee Myung-bak, the fascist dictatorial regime!¡± are the voice of the indignant people.

The AINDF and the south Korean people will further intensify the struggle to overthrow the Lee Myung-bak dictatorial regime which persists in the unpopular dictatorship running counter to the people's aspiration and the trend of the times, and accelerate the destruction of the group of traitors.
