for a commission. He is buried in the grounds of the
Chateau Van de Peer Boom, on the Ypres Diekebusch Rd.

Nicholas of Court Mattress was the third son
of Nicholas of the third Limerick generation
of the family.
He was born abut 1771 on the old homestead at Court Mattress
where he was raised, and where in turn, he raised his family.
His first wife was Catherine Cronsberry, his second, Anne Fitch.
They are remembered by persons with whom the writer
has conversed, as speaking German equally as well as English.

JAMES OF SHANAGOLDEN
was the grandson of Christopher of the third generation.
He married an Irish Roman Catholic named Mary Hastings,,
and lived in the celtic village of Sanangolden.
He did not hold land but worked as a farm labourer with the
neighbouring farmers. So far as we have learned, his children were as follows:

James died in Oklahoma, U.S.A.

Nicholas died in Illinois where he raised his family.

Charles died in Limerick
He was a soldier and served in the Crimian war.

John died in Limerick

Came to Brock in 1858. Was a farm labourer and lived
in various places in Brock and Scott Townships.
He is familiarly known as "Yankee William" a name given him because
when he left Limerick he first went to Illinois
where his brother had previously settled
