Jacob Jr. of Adare was the oldest son of Jacob
of the third Irish generation. He was born at Court Mattress
March 5, 1775. As a young man he took land in the Adare
Settlement and lived there for thirty years.
He came to Brock with all his family in 1835 and settled
in a locality that became know as the Brock Shier Settlement,
or for brevity, "The Settlement". Jacob was the only member of the fourth
Limerick generation to come to Canada. He died Sept. 8, 1845
and was buried in the Settlement Cemetary

In Limerick he belonged to the Irish constabulary.
In 1837, on the occasion of the Canadian Rebellion he was made
an ensign by the Lieutenant Governor, and authorized to muster a company.
He gathered a hundred men and with them proceeded to muddy York,
now Toronto, but on his arrival found the rebellion had already subdued.
