The Encore 2003

The Junior Amateur Masters was established in 2002, with it's inaugural tournament being held on May 4, 2002. Despite having to compete with an established junior tour on the same day, The Encore managed to attract 24 bowlers out of a full field of 48. Hosting half a field on the first day while having to compete with other tournaments for bowlers is quite a feat. The Junior Amateur Masters were able to have the one of the highest Canadian scholarship payouts at a junior tournament, second only to the Survivor which charges over double the entry fee.

The success of the inaugural event has prompted the Junior Amateur Masters to start up its own junior bowling scholarship series for the 2002-2003 bowling season. The JAM Series will run a one-day event, once a month beginning in September 2002. The JAM Series will culminate in the second annual Encore tournament in May 2003. Promoting the sport of bowling in a competitive yet fun atmosphere is the goal of the JAM Series. Following the lead of the exciting environment created by the Young American Bowling Alliance, the JAM Series looks to be a truly Canadian version of the junior bowling scholarship tours featured in the USA.
