ISO 31-0:1992 Quantities and units -- Part 0: General principles
Digits should be placed into groups of three and the groups should be separated by a small space, never a comma or point. For the decimal sign, the ISO endorses a comma but also acknowledges use of a point. (1 000 000 = one million; 0.000 001 = one-millionth)
